Before the BooPort parade, I stopped by the Bridgeport Elks Lodge to update my vaccines at their free vaccine clinic. Make your plan to update all of your shots before the holiday season. Thanks to the Elks for always being an outstanding partner for our community.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I'm continuing my video series with Cortney Marengo from Laurel House to educate our community about these issues. In this video, we discuss the reasons a person may not feel able to leave an abusive situation and how we can support our neighbors. As always, if you are experiencing abuse or are concerned for a friend, please contact our Borough of Bridgeport Police Department and they will handle your case with the care and respect you deserve.

This is a valuable opportunity right in our area that can help some of our neighbors here in Bridgeport.

With Halloween just a few days away and BooPort well underway, what are your favorite scary movies?

Personally, I'm not much of a fan of horror. The real world is scary enough! But I did love the Paranormal Activity movies. When I was younger, my friend and I enjoyed Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

I promise you my BooPort costume is not that scary!

What great turnout at BooFest today! Thanks to the council members, volunteers, Borough staff, and vendors for a fantastic BooPort event. Plus, on a rainy day like this, the chili from Junebug Sweet Treats really hit the spot.

I appreciated seeing so many tables of people with resources to help kids and families. While October may be a time for scary stories, groups like Mission Kids and others are here to make sure nobody has to be afraid at home.
