TRAFFIC UPDATE

Westbound I-96 will have a double lane closure at Chilson Road tomorrow, May 29th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for barrier wall maintenance.

TRAFFIC UPDATE

We have a significant milestone on the schedule for next week. The contractor will be setting bridge beams on the new eastbound I-96 bridge over Grand River Avenue.

On Monday, June 1st and Wednesday, June 3rd, eastbound Grand River Avenue will have a daytime single lane closure, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, between Hilton Road and the EB I-96 off ramp.

Beam setting will take place during nighttime hours, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, on Tuesday night, June 2nd and Thursday night, June 4th. Grand River Avenue will be completely closed at I-96 during this time. Eastbound Grand River Avenue will be detoured along Hilton Road and Old US-23. Westbound Grand River Avenue will be detoured along eastbound I-96 to the Spencer Road interchange and back along westbound I-96 to exit at Grand River Avenue. All Grand River Avenue ramps to and from I-96 will remain open.

TRAFFIC UPDATE

The westbound I-96 exit ramp to Grand River Avenue (Exit 145) will be closed for slope repairs on Saturday, May 16th between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Traffic will be directed to exit westbound I-96 at Spencer Road (Exit 147) and follow Old US-23 to Grand River Avenue.

TRAFFIC UPDATE:

Westbound I-96 will have a single lane closure between US-23 and Spencer Road, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, on Thursday, April 23rd.

TRAFFIC UPDATE:

Westbound I-96 will have a double lane closure from Latson Road to D-19 on Tuesday, April 21, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

TRAFFIC UPDATE:

Westbound I-96 will have a single lane closure between US-23 and Spencer Road, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, on Friday, April 17th.

TRAFFIC UPDATE

There will be a double lane closure on eastbound I-96 at Grand River Avenue (Exit 145) on Wednesday, April 8th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, the on-ramp from westbound Grand River Avenue to westbound I-96 will have a short term closure between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to allow the contractor to place additional pavement markings.

TRAFFIC UPDATE

Contractor crews are working to implement the initial traffic shift of the 2026 construction season on the I-96 Chilson to Dorr Project. The following ramp and lane closures will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026.

The westbound I-96 exit ramp to Grand River Avenue (Exit 141) will close for the season beginning at 9:00 a.m. Traffic will be detoured along westbound I-96 to utilize the Latson Road exit ramp to Grand River Avenue.

The Latson Road entrance ramp to westbound I-96 will also close for the season beginning at 9:00 a.m. Traffic will be detoured along Grand River Avenue to D-19 to access westbound I-96.

Lastly, a double lane closure will be in place along westbound I-96 from Dorr road to Chilson Road between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. During this time, westbound I-96 traffic will be shifted onto the eastbound I-96 roadbed. Once complete, this project will be similar to last season with two lanes of I-96 traffic maintained in each direction on the eastbound I-96 roadbed.

The traffic shift and ramp closures are expected to be in place until mid-November, 2026 while the contractor reconstructs westbound I-96.
