Very sad night for Bristol as we came together as ONE to honor our Fallen Officers. I couldn't be prouder of this city who stood side by side to be together and mourn for these courageous officers. This tragedy had an unmeasureable impact on us all. We are BRISTOL ALL HEART and tonight we proved that!
I also want to Thank all of the surrounding Police Departments who came out tonight to honor and be with us at this time. 💙🖤💙🖤
CONGRATULATIONS to Carlolyn Kielma, to Bristol Public Schools, and to Bristol Eastern High School! It was an honor to attend this morning's assembly to announce Carolyn Kielma, a science teacher at Bristol Eastern High School, who has been selected as Connecticut’s 2023 Teacher of the Year, the state’s highest recognition honoring extraordinary teachers. This is the first time a teacher from the City of Bristol has been selected for this honor!
Governor Lamont and Commissioner Russell-Tucker this morning delivered the news to Kielma during a surprise visit to the high school, which was followed by a schoolwide assembly celebrating the recognition with the honoree’s fellow educators, family, and students from both schools.

With snow on the way, we want to remind our customers that if there is a hydrant near your home, we appreciate any help clearing the snow away.
We have over 1,400 fire hydrants in the City and although our crews do a great job clearing the snow, it may take some time before we get to your area. When our crews begin removing snow around hydrants, they start around the hospital and schools. We then work our way out to higher elevations where snow amounts are typically higher. Once those areas are complete, we work our way through the residential lower elevation neighborhoods.
We always appreciate any help residents can provide if there is a fire hydrant in front of or near your home, so that if needed, its ready to go.

The Bristol Fire Department would like to remind you to practice Christmas tree safety this season, to help protect your family. Please take a moment to consider these tips from the NFPA.
I would like to explain why I voted NO to the Wheeler Clinic project last night in case people needed clarification.
There were a few things about Wheeler that made me vote the way I did. One of them was of course, it was a non tax paying building. Two, the jobs offered to Bristol were a small percentage, most of those jobs are already filled.
This is a " what came 1st situation, the chicken or the egg." Do we have bigger businesses come in and then try to build up Bristol with restaurants, shops, etc. OR do we build up Bristol 1st and then get bigger businesses to come. Hard decision to make.. When I decided to run for City Councilor my platform was to be the voice of the people.
To make sure residents have a say in what was going on in Bristol. I have walked and knocked on doors for 4 months and during those 4 mths one of the main questions were , What do you want to see for downtown. 98% of the people I talked to said and I can quote, restaurants, shops, a place where people can have date night, a place for children and families. These people stated they go elsewhere for these things and do not look to Bristol to spend their money.
So, when something like this goes to the council, who am I looking for,? Who am I going to go too, to hear thoughts and opinions? YOU, the residents of Bristol! Granted I did not talk to EVERYONE in District 1 but I did talk to hundreds about downtown. Probably more than anyone has, asking face to face what they wanted for their downtown. I even put it in Bristol Talks to try to see what people are saying throughout Bristol about Wheeler. I did my due diligence and collected data about this and based my vote on that. I listened, I asked and I represented. All things that the residents of Bristol asked for. Are there many people upset by this, yes. Are there many people I did not talk too about this, yes. I did my best. I am sorry to the people who are upset by this. I wish everyone was on the same page and happy with every decision that will be made but that is not reality. I think Bristol can do better for their residents, I am hopeful that we can show you and give you all a great downtown that has everything you have been asking for. It will take time but what goes there should be thought about and the residents should have a say to make sure what goes there is a great fit! Please feel free to contact me at : [email protected] and I will try to answer your questions as best as I can.
Wishing you All the joys of the Season and Every Happiness throughout the coming Year. ❤
From our family to yours,
Sebastian, Sue, Jolene, Andrew, Jackie, Mayor Jeff and Cheryl.
