Norwalk Department of Public Works - Operations Division sent a crew with a Bucket Truck & Chipper Mutual Aid to Brookfield today. The Norwalk Crew's professionalism, experience and "can do" attitude was greatly appreciated. The Staff of Brookfield Public Works would like to share our heartfelt THANKS!

The roads in town are slick! Town crews are out keeping up on the snow.
Kellogg street is closed for a large tree down across the road between Candlewood Lake Road and Hickory Hill.
DPW Truck #10 (Jeff Minck) was plowing Kellogg St in the area of Hickory Hill Rd when he happened upon a downed tree blocking the entire roadway. Truck #10 promptly radioed in his findings. BPD and additional resources were dispatched. Brookfield Police Department, Brookfield Vol. Fire Dept. Candlewood Company Inc, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and Eversource CT responded.
Brookfield Public Works Truck #1 (Supt. of Roads James Docktor) made quick work of clearing this Eastern White Pine (Pinus Strobus to be exact!). Kellogg St has been re-opened! Thanks to Brookfield Police Department K-9 Ofc Joseph Kyek for the video!

DPW Crew Leader Matt Denyko snapped this picture of Truck #9. This 10 Wheeler is the largest plow truck in the fleet. Mr. Denyko and Truck #9 are responsible for keeping Candlewood Lake Rd and various neighborhoods off the Lake Rd clear and passable during Winter events.

We will start crack sealing tomorrow Friday the 12th. It will continue through Tuesday. The following roads are listed. Anything we cannot get done in the three day time frame will be completed in the fall.

Sightline improvements along the south shoulder of Rt. 133 at Obtuse Road South....breaking up ledge and regrading so motorists can see farther west when entering the intersection. Conn DOT will be making sign improvements shortly. Police - Public Works - ConnDOT working together to make travel safer!
Travel in this area will be restricted to one lane through Friday 02/24 and may result in slight congestion during peak hours. Please plan your drives accordingly and slow down for workers in construction zones so that everyone can stay safe. Thanks

The Brookfield Police Department thanks the Brookfield, CT. Dept. of Public Works for their hard work, yesterday during the heat and humidity, cleaning the ventilation pit and unclogging its drainage as well as constructing a foundation drain to prevent the regular flooding of the downstairs of the building during heavy rains - it worked perfectly during last evenings storm! Thanks for a job well done!
