This is what a day volunteering with Meir Panim looks like.
Packing groceries. Delivering hot meals. Sitting with someone who needed a friendly face just as much as they needed food.
Somewhere in the middle of it all, you remember why this work matters.
If you've ever wanted to help but weren't sure how, this is one way. And if you're not in Israel, a donation goes just as far.

This Sunday, join us for a free webinar on one of the most significant moments in biblical history, the giving of the Torah (the Hebrew Bible) at Mount Sinai, and the holiday of Shavuot that celebrates it every year.

Rabbi Akiva Gersh will take you through the history, customs, and why Mount Sinai never became a pilgrimage site, and how Shavuot completes the journey that began at Passover.

It's free, it's open to everyone, and people join from all over the world.

Rabbi Akiva taught that these words are among the great principles of the Torah. He was known for his burning love of Torah, but also for his true love and deep concern for all living creatures, humans and animals. He was one of the most famous sages in Jewish history, who lived in Israel during the final years of the Second Temple and the painful years that followed its destruction.

And yet, Jewish tradition teaches that during the weeks between Passover and Shavuot, thousands of Rabbi Akiva’s own students died of a terrible plague, because they failed to treat one another with proper respect.

Today - Lag BaOmer, the 33rd day of that count, marks the day the plague came to an end. This day is celebrated with bonfires, music, and celebration.

That is why this day also carries a message we still need:
To care for one another.
To show kindness.
To judge others with compassion.
To notice who is struggling, and not turn away.

This truly embodies our mission at Meir Panim: to help out anyone in need with respect and dignity. We welcome them to our Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchen, bring meals to their homes, and provide them with household essentials, pantry boxes, food, appliances, and anything else they may need.

Between Passover and Shavuot, the Bible tells us to count each day.

This is called the Counting of the Omer.

It began with the harvest, when the first barley offering was brought after Passover, and continued until Shavuot, the time of the wheat harvest.

But the Omer is more than a count on the calendar.

It is a reminder that food is a blessing, that each day carries responsibility, and that what grows from the ground is meant to sustain human life.

A day can pass, or a day can be used to help someone. At Meir Panim, we make each day, moment, and meal matter.

This Omer, help us make every day count by continuing to follow and support us on social media by liking and commenting, or by volunteering or donating!

How we've been serving Dimona's people since the attack.

04/26/2026

When a rocket hit Dimona, it didn't just destroy homes. It heavily damaged our branch. A branch that serves the most needy of Israel. Feeding hungry children, a hot lunch and providing them a safe place to be after school while their parents work long hours at low paying jobs.

Watch as Mimi and show you around.

If you want to donate and help rebuild our Dimona branch, the link is in our bio!
