In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service our AmeriCorps Members will be at our Eco-Hub sites distributing fresh food from 11 AM to 2 PM for #MLKDay2021!

At Green City Force, we are doers. Through our work, we affirm that Black Lives Matter and refuse to resign ourselves to the ongoing oppression and discrimination against Black and brown people in this country✊🏿. Dr. King stood against the systems of white supremacy through non-violence. We celebrate the courage of all who work for peaceful and democratic change.

Every day, but today especially, we are grateful for our Corps Members, alumni, staff, volunteers, board, partners, supporters, and Green City Force family. During these past few months while still in a pandemic, our Corps Members have put in over 12,000 hours of service and harvested over 20,000 pounds of produce for their communities that most need it. We are full of gratitude and respect for our service Corps Members that have been at the frontlines serving NYCHA communities❤️.

We know there are a lot of people asking to contribute to the family due to the shocking passing of our beloved Lawrence “Dahu” Harris. First and foremost we would like to thank you all for your uplifting words and the multiple gestures made to the family. This has been a tough fight. However, it does not go unnoticed. You are all amazing.

The money will go towards his memorial which we will like to have set up for this upcoming week. We do not expect everyone to donate. Your positive words have been enough. Remembering a GCF Legend - GCF

As many of you may know by now, this past weekend Lawrence "Dahu" Harris passed away. Lawrence was GCF’s first Team Leader and during his time with the organization, he touched the lives of many. He had a sincere passion for environmental justice and helping young people reach their full potential. The impact he had on those who knew him was astounding, and we want to ask for your help in honoring his memory.
