Chief Brannon Decou

Chief Brannon Decou I am proud to be the Chief of Police for the great city of Broussard, LA. My four terms in office are marked with some of the lowest crime rates in a rapidly growing city!

Brannon Decou began his law enforcement career in late 1990 when he joined the Broussard Police Reserves. Then in 1993 he was hired at the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Don Breaux. From there he went back to Broussard Police as a Juvenile Detective and Patrolman; and furthered his professional career by going to the LA State Police. While serving as a State Trooper, Brannon Decou became known by his professionalism, dedication and commitment to serve. It is obvious when you meet him, that he has a strong sense of not only knowing right and wrong, but also a true concern for the community that he lives in. While serving as a Trooper he had to make a decision to leave there and come serve the community where he has always devoted a lot of his time in as well as lives in. It was in January of 2001 when Brannon was first appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of Broussard and after a few election processes he remained and has proudly served as our Chief since then. He has seen our city through the large growth that we have had and has been able to maintain a low crime rate amongst that growth. Now Chief Decou seeks re-election in the large, progressive city that we are proud of called Broussard! As a member of the Broussard Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years and currently serving as an Assistant Chief there along with being the Chief of Police for almost 18 years, he understands the needs of this community as well as the challenges that officers in the department face on a day to day basis. His involvement in professional organizations such as a former board member of the Lafayette Parish 911 Communication Board, the Lafayette Parish Emergency Management Advisory Committee, an Executive Board Member of the LA Association of Chief’s of Police, Former Vice-President of Southwest Chief’s Association and has worked on the US Marshal’s Joint Fugitive Task Force; help to show his dedication and professionalism. When it comes to training and education Brannon has attended and continues to keep up with regular training for himself as well as the officers that work in the department. He was Top Cadet of his POST Academy class, he graduated with over 600 hours of rigorous training at State Police and continues his education by attending annual Chief’s of Police specialized trainings. Without further adue, I ask you to help me welcome our CHIEF OF POLICE, BRANNON DECOU!

Broussard acquires downtown property for new fire, police stations and passive park

I would like to thank Mayor Ray Bourque and City Council for moving us forward. I have been working together with the Mayor and Council to provide us more space for our police department to be able to work out of for a while now. We need this for our staff to have adequate office space and due to issues with our current facility. Hopefully we can get this accomplished quickly.

The city of Broussard has taken the first steps toward upgrading its police and fire stations and revitalizing its downtown district by purchasing 10 acres of land and acquiring maintenance

It was great to work with Luke to help him with his project and to see him accomplish his Eagle Scout badge! Great job guys!

Congratulations to Luke Sims and Ethan Bailey, both Broussard residents who recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. With only 4% of all Scouts achieving this highest rank, they are to be commended on this great accomplishment.

Asst Chief Chris Galvez is a great asset to our agency and helps daily to make sure we do the best we can for our community. He is able to be a voice for the agency, so listen to his video which can clarify any misinformation out there.
I would like to thank AC Galvez for his hard work and dedication to our agency and city. Chris has 12 years in our agency and has many certifications including a master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice!
I am proud to have him as a part of our team and even more so to have him by my side to help run our agency for many years to come! #broussard #reelectdecou #chiefdecou2018

Jesse Regan is a well-known respectable businessman in our city as well as Councilman Elect for District 3 and he says it best in this video that change is NOT needed in the office of Chief of Police.
We do have a safe community even through all the growth we have had. I am proud of our team for working hard to keep our city safe and I will continue to do all we can to make criminals think twice before committing crime in our city!

Broussard Police plan training at BMS; residents may hear gunshots

My continued commitment to making sure our schools are safe is shown again by us putting on this active shooter awareness training for the staff at Broussard Middle School today. I have had a School Resource Officer at BMS for over 10 years and as we move forward now we will have one at Katherine Drexel as well.

This morning, Broussard Police will be conducting an awareness training at Broussard Middle, and they're letting the public know so no one is alarmed.

Its an honor to be a part of things like this and make a positive impact on children's lives. Broussard Police attended Camp Brave Hearts today to be a part of this wonderful camp. This camp is offered free of charge to children ages 6-11 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We know that coping with grief requires being honest about feelings, and most of all, being BRAVE!

Broussard police was honored to be a part of Camp Braveheart’s celebration today. The young lives we met today are true heroes. Thanks for allowing us to meet your courageous children!

Happy Birthday Chief!
Happy Birthday Chief
Happy birthday Chief-Brannon Decou!! Hope you have a great day!! Muahhhh!!
Success chief decou
Congrats on your victory Chief-Brannon Decou! But your integrity and devotion to this community is very apparent. The day after elections, I woke up to none of your signs in my yard. On the way to work, it was obvious you had picked up the majority of them throughout the community. Kudos my friend! Thank you!!!
Congratulations Chief!
Good morning, Chief-Brannon Decou! Good luck today. You do a phenomenal job at protecting the City of Broussard. You’ve got this! 🖤💙🖤
Chief keep up the Great Job. Your knowledge, People Skills and Team of Professional First Responders will see you to Victory.
Great officers right here! Chief Decou, over the summer my nephews were having a game of basketball going on. 3 officers stopped and joined in with the kids, they interacted with theses young boys, theses boys were at awe. Laughing, talking and just having a good time! They were so excited, still talking about it a week after!! But I must say theses young boys gave them a run!! They work up a sweat!! But watching this brought such joy to the boys, but to me as a parent, it brought much more. Bless you and all your officers. For making theses young boys see the real heart and compassion of being a police officer.
I don't live in Broussard but I do work in Broussard. I can't be happier to hear that Chief Decou is running for Re-Election. I have friends that live in Broussard and they all tell me how the Chief and his officers have helped to change and make Broussard a better and safer place. On a personal note, I have been knowing Brannon for quite a few years and will fight tooth and nail for what's right and is always looking for ways to improve himself, his force and the City of Broussard.
I need to get my voters registration switched from New Iberia to Broussard. You are the best of the best. My vote is Chief-Brandon Decou.
