***Maine Warden Service, MASAR Volunteers Search For Missing Man in Orono***

ORONO, Maine – The Maine Warden Service, along with trained searchers from the Maine Association of Search and Rescue (MASAR), are searching for missing man in Orono.

Chance Lauer was last seen on Monday, January 19th at the Orchard Trail Apartments in Orono where he lives.

Game Wardens plan to begin ground searches in the Orono area at 8:00 a.m. with members of the Maine Warden Service, MASAR and ten total K9 units from the Maine Warden Service and Maine Search and Rescue Dogs (MESARD)

Due to the extreme weather conditions expected tomorrow, the Maine Warden Service is not asking for any volunteers at this time.

If any new information becomes available, this release will be updated.

K9 Storm and Maine Game Warden Chad Robertson located a missing elderly Edgecomb man yesterday evening just as freezing temperatures started to set in.

At 91 years old, the man lives alone at his house, but has caregivers who are there daily. He was not there when his caregiver arrived at 10am yesterday, but the house was still warm and the man often worked around his property during the day, so the caregiver was not alarmed.

When he did not return, the caregiver called Lincoln County Sheriff's office, who contacted the Maine Warden Service. At approximately 5:40pm, Game Warden Robertson and K9 Storm located the man in the woods, disoriented, and sitting on a stone wall with one shoe missing.

Game Wardens helped the man out of the woods as his knee was hurting. He was loaded onto an ATV, and brought out to a waiting ambulance where he was examined but not transported by emergency medical personnel, then released to his family.

The Maine Warden Service was assisted in this search by the Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office, the Edgecomb Fire Department and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service.

BREAKING NEWS ON THE MISSING PERSON ON MOUNT WASHINGTON - Sadly it was just announced at 12:19pm 7.18.25 that he was found deceased. We will have more info for you once released

ORIGINAL POST -- Bill Davis, 79, went missing on top of Mount Washington. He was wearing a white shirt, orange rain jacket -Last seen at 5 pm on Wednesday, July 16, seen leaving top of Mt. Washington summit.

He wandered off the summit of Mt. Washington after taking the Cog Train to the top. According to Davis’s wife, he was last seen in the area of the observation deck around 3:20 p.m.

From there no one knows where he went. Phone contact was made by a State Park employee and it seemed that he was lost off trail, but didn’t appear to be very far from the summit. He did not know where he was, but his description of the area made it seem that he would be easily located. However, after searching for over an hour he was not located and had stopped answering his phone.

Park service has been alerted, search and rescue is in progress, but time is critical and we are trying to spread awareness in case any hikers saw them or have trail camera footage. Contact: Please call NH Fish and Game at (603) 271-3127 with any info.

UPDATE – NH Fish & Game Conservation Officers, Mt. Washington State Park personnel and volunteer search teams from Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue (AVSAR) have been searching for a missing Florida man in and around the summit of Mt. Washington since Wednesday evening.

A full scale search was conducted with a Drone Team and over 24 rescue personnel searching off trail locations well into the early morning hours. The temperatures were mild with light winds initially, which helped the searchers, but fog came in late and the wind picked up.

With no evidence of his whereabouts and no clues to go on, the search was suspended around 2:00 a.m. and commenced again at 6:00 a.m. Again Drone Teams started right after sunrise and search teams consisting of AVSAR volunteers, State Park employee and Conservation Officers from around the state arrived and searched areas where it was assumed Davis would have most likely walked to.

Searchers scoured off trail locations in periods of thick clouds and increasing winds throughout the day. Again, with no evidence or clues of his whereabouts, and the deteriorating weather conditions, the search was suspended for the night, but will commence this morning.

UPDATE: According to Oxford County SO, Mr. Collins has been located and is safe.

🚨 SILVER ALERT 🚨

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Silver Alert for 73-year-old Normand Collins of Buckfield. Mr. Collins, who suffers from cognitive issues, is a white male, 5’4”, 125 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He left his residence on N. Hill Road in Buckfield at approximately 5:30 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, driving a 2017 gray Hyundai Accent, Maine registration 5759YF. His clothing is unknown. He may be headed toward the Lewiston area.
