Restoring Civility and Progress in Bucyrus: A Call to Voters

As Election Day approaches on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the residents of Bucyrus have an important opportunity before them - the chance to shape the future of our city and restore a sense of civility, respect, and professionalism to local government.
In recent months, Bucyrus City Council meetings have too often resembled a circus rather than a forum for thoughtful discussion and collaboration because of a couple of people. The focus has shifted away from solving problems and toward personal attacks, criticism, and the rehashing of old grievances. This kind of behavior does not serve our citizens well, nor does it move our community forward.

Human nature plays a part in this. We all want to be right, and sometimes the easiest way to feel right is to make others wrong. Unfortunately, that tendency has become too visible in local politics. A few individuals seem intent on creating division, flooding the city with negative commentary and constant records requests rather than contributing positive solutions. Maybe this is a void or hole in how they see themselves. Such actions may bring short-term satisfaction, but they cost our community in trust, unity, and progress.

Everyone has a past, and everyone makes mistakes. The measure of a person is not in the missteps they’ve taken, but in how they learn and grow from them. Most people, when faced with challenges, use those experiences to become stronger and wiser. Others, however, seem caught in a loop of repeating the same patterns of negativity, unable or unwilling to move forward.

This election offers Bucyrus a moment to choose a better path. With a new council president and other open positions soon to be elected, we have the chance to set a new tone — one of respect, maturity, and genuine leadership. We need officials who focus on solutions rather than insults, collaboration rather than confrontation.

Bucyrus is a great city with real challenges ahead, but those challenges can only be met if our leaders act like adults, professionals, and public servants. It’s time to elect individuals who care more about progress than personal grudges.
On Tuesday, November 4, I urge every Bucyrus voter to make their voice heard. Let’s take our city back from the negativity and move forward with hope and purpose. Judge the candidates not by their pasts, but by who they are today and what they can offer tomorrow.

Let 2026 be the beginning of a new era — one defined by respect, cooperation, and community pride. Vote for Kevin Myers.
