Buena Vista is excited to celebrate the 55th Annual Labor Day Festival this upcoming Monday, September 7! We hope you’ll join us for a full day of community tradition, featuring stumping speeches, the Labor Day Parade, live entertainment, food, and activities for the whole family.

🚧 Traffic Reminder: Magnolia Avenue will be closed during the Labor Day Parade. Please be aware of increased pedestrian traffic throughout the area and use extra caution when driving near downtown and the parade route. We appreciate everyone helping keep our community safe while we celebrate!

Update: Circuit Courts will operate under normal hours

City offices will close at 12pm, Friday September 4, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.

City offices will be closed September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. Residential refuse collection will be delayed by one day. Business refuse collection will remain unchanged.

The City will be conducting paving work on Route 501 South, heading out of town, near Munters to repair a pothole in the area.

Flaggers will be directing traffic while the work is underway. Drivers are asked to stay alert, use caution, and follow directions when traveling through the work zone.

Laurel Park Road Work Update

Our Parks & Recreation team is currently working on milling the road at Laurel Park. Work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.

We also encourage everyone in our community to help keep our students safe by slowing down in school zones, watching for children at bus stops and crosswalks, and staying alert as school traffic increases.

Notice of Street work:

Beginning Wednesday, August 26, paving work will take place on Chestnut Avenue between 14th Street and 17th Street.

During construction, traffic will be diverted, and motorists should expect minor delays. Please use caution when traveling through the area, follow all posted construction signs, and watch for workers and equipment.
