Whether you are introducing your toddlers to the ice for the very first time, looking for a great weekly workout, or catching up with friends, our beautiful town facility has open ice time tailored for all ages and skill levels. Our community is fortunate to have a top-tier recreational complex right here in our backyard, making it easy and affordable to keep our families moving.

• Skate Rentals: $5 per session

The facility offers great weekly options, including General Free Skate, Senior Tracks (ages 40+), and specialized Adult/Preschool sessions for our youngest skaters. See "The Taming of the Shrew" at Delaware Park LAST WEEKEND!!🧺🍷

There is truly nothing quite like a Buffalo summer evening, and one of our absolute finest cultural traditions is happening right now! Shakespeare in Delaware Park is back with its second production of the season, The Taming of the Shrew, and I want to encourage all of our residents to grab a blanket and head down to the hill.

As the second-oldest outdoor Shakespeare company in the United States, SDP is an absolute crown jewel of Erie County. This year’s production offers a brilliant, fresh, and modernized take on the classic comedy—focusing on compassion, growth, and fantastic local talent. What makes this tradition so special is that it belongs to all of us.

It is completely free, entirely accessible, and brings neighbors from every corner of our community together under the open sky.

Attention Erie County residents!

Interested in a meaningful and rewarding career serving our local communities? The Erie County Personnel Department has officially opened applications for the upcoming law enforcement civil service examinations. If you or someone you know is ready to step up and make a difference across Western New York, now is the time to take the first step.

While the written examinations for both tracks will be held on October 17, 2026, the deadline to submit your application is fast approaching on September 2, 2026.

Here are the essential details you need to know to get started:

🔹 Available Position Tracks & Exam Numbers:
• Police Officer: Exam #60058900 (for town and village police departments throughout Erie County)
• Deputy Sheriff - Criminal: Exam #60058910 (starting salary of $69,274 annually with the Erie County Sheriff's Office)
• Deputy Sheriff - Criminal (Spanish Speaking): Exam #60068700
• Deputy Sheriff - Criminal (Seneca Speaking): Exam #60062730

Please note: If you wish to be considered for both town/village police departments and the Sheriff's Office, you must file separate applications and fees for each specific exam.

🔹 Minimum Qualifications to Participate:

• Age: Applicants must be at least 19 years old on the date of the exam (and must be 21 to receive an official appointment). Candidates cannot be older than 43 years of age.
• Education: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with 60 completed college credit hours. (Alternatively, 30 college credit hours are accepted if combined with one year of active-duty military service).
• License: A valid New York State driver’s license is required.

🔹 Fees & How to File:There is a $30 non-refundable processing fee for each individual exam application. However, fee waivers are fully available for individuals facing financial hardships, such as unemployment or enrollment in public assistance programs.

Applications can be submitted conveniently online through the Erie County Employment Portal, or you can file them in person or by mail at the Edward A. Rath County Office Building located at 95 Franklin Street in Buffalo.Public safety relies on dedicated, community-minded individuals choosing to answer the call. Hello Buffalo! ❤️

For anyone who shares a passion for our regional heritage and the legacy of TR, there is a powerful new exhibit open right now at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site on Delaware Avenue:

"12 Days in Buffalo That Changed the World."
It takes visitors right back to September 1901. Imagine being an everyday Buffalonian back then, riding the high of the spectacular, glowing Pan-American Exposition, only to have the world shatter in an instant when President McKinley was shot at the Temple of Music.

This exhibit captures the raw, human weight of those 12 days. It explores the shock felt across our community, the anxious waiting as a nation held its breath, and the sudden, heavy burden placed on a young Theodore Roosevelt as he was hurriedly sworn in right here in our own backyard. History unfolded on the very streets we walk every single day. Buffalo is incredibly fortunate to be the place where global history shifted and where a legendary presidency began.

The exhibit is open right now, providing a wonderful opportunity to take an afternoon, bring the family, and immerse ourselves in this powerful chapter of our shared story. See you on Delaware Avenue! 🏛️

To Small Business Owners and those who love them: Remember the Small Business Forum is 9/2 at 5:30.

A business owners who registered asked if she should bring a statement of capabilities, meaning what the company does and can do. Here's my response. Please spread the word to make all opportunities open to all., so we can grow and succeed together.

Yes.

There are three parts of the forum:

One is government related funding directly through govt and govt secured business loans such as SBA

Second is government things that are intended to help local economy such as Visit Buffalo and ECC for interns and employees and actually direct training.

Third is government as customer/client. So if you have capabilities statement, do bring it and some copies to give out and ask questions and talk to the speaker regarding how she can help you get business as that it a primary reason for her job.

Let me go one better. Please think about, who would be a customer of yours and how and what department and I will TRY to get the contracting person there to discuss. If I can't I will send that person your information and capacity statement or whatever else you have for them so that they can give you notice about how to apply to get the notice of opportunities directly.

DPW Commissioner Bill Geary reported today that the repaving on Maple Rd started yesterday and is on schedule to be done by the end of the season! This will cover Maple Rd, from North Forest to the bridge over the 290.

People say Western New York is a hot real estate market.
National turnover rate for houses was 2.8% in 2025. Here are the figures from the 2026 annual report of the county's department of real property tax services showing Aurora had 7.21% turnover clarance had 6.78% turnover, Amherst had 6.58%. 18 of our towns and cities were more than double the national average and all were substantially above it.
