I am so incredibly proud of the progress happening right now at our Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. The expansion is due to be complete this winter. They were incredibly mindful about sustainability in the planning from day one. Look at how much care went into this design: Mass Timber Framing: They chose sustainable natural wood instead of heavy carbon steel to blend beautifully. They are utilizing solar power with brand-new solar arrays are going up across the roofs, They’ve built in advanced stormwater management and EV charging stations to protect our local ecosystem. And wait until you see the new wedding spaces! 🥂💍It is going to be a dream destination for local couples. The centerpiece is The Canopy, a gorgeous tree-top event space for over 250 guests. You can see that the room is coming along beautifully! They even put together a private, luxury bridal suite and a private secluded sunken garden just for the bride and groom to share a quiet moment and take photos. And new classroom spaces as well. The Botanical gardens is open now, i hope you take a moment to go and see it for yourself, and absolutely plan to go out an enjoy the Botanical Gardens with the opening of the expansion this winter! 💚🍃

I am happy to welcome another truely unique and beautiful business into our Amherst community today! ✨I had the pleasure of learning about the vision behind Biladi Coffee House . Owners Najm “AJ” Elwaseem and his team spent 18 months meticulously creating a space that is beautiful and inviting for neighbors, families, and students from nearby UB can gather, connect, and share, enjoy and experience the best of Yemeni hospitality and delicacies they can offer. The owners are impassioned about their uncompromising commitment to quality and bringing completely new flavors to the town of Amherst.

While I was there, I learned about their spectacular, traditional Yemeni milk tea called known as Adeni Chai. Very precisely brewed. It is a premium black tea slow-steeped with milk and heavily infused with fragrant cardamom and warm spices. The depth of flavor is was wonderful!

I wish them every success, and am happy to support our local small businesses and celebrating the rich cultural diversity. I hope you to drop in, try a cup of their incredible cardamom tea, and experience this beautiful cafe, and all it has to offer.

Today i got to honor Mike Macdonald as Citizen of the Month, a well deserved honor for a great Family man, coach and friend.

What truly stands out about Coach MacDonald is his character and his profound devotion to family. No matter how demanding the court or the career, his grounding force has always been his wife, Maura, and their four sons. At the end of the day, our families and our roots are what keep us focused on what matters most. It is that exact same heart, integrity, and focus that he puts into his family and this exends to his mentorship of his players, and his work in the community.

When we look at elite leadership, it’s about more than just a win-loss record. Even though he holds a historic, highly successful 523–312 (.626) overall career head coaching record built entirely within Western New York across 29 seasons. He stands alone as the only coach in college basketball history to log at least 100 wins at all three NCAA levels (Division I, II, and III). It is about showing up with a team-first mindset every single day. That is exactly what makes Mike MacDonald’s return to St. Bonaventure as the 20th head basketball coach so deeply meaningful. Mike exemplifies what can be achieved through lifelong dedication and steadfast leadership.. Building an exceptional NCAA program takes relentless resilience and an unwavering commitment to mentoring young people- We are so lucky in WNY to have him and his leadership skills here in our community! 🏀
