I'm trying to get Mark Poloncarz to agree to raise the senior tax credit; we don't agree on everything and I'm not going to roll over to agree because we're each supposed to be advocating for what we think is best for our community, but he is doing important work advocating for changes to FEMA funding. I didn't know until I got into this job that that floods get funding but for snow storms we only get fema reimbursement if the storm is the worst up to that point. It's kind of an impossible goal overtime, although many storms have been each the worst. It's important for fairness because we all pay into the federal system and if only Southern States get help to reimburse huge expenses for natural disasters, it's just not fair. These states live in flood plains and we live in snow belts, But spreading disaster relief makes property taxes less expensive and makes it so that cleanup can be quicker. Being a leader in these national organizations helps us.

As a Legislator, Its my privilege to honor Holly Donaldson and her remarkable life. Buffalo was lucky to have been home, she shaped our community.She was always looking for ways to lift others up. She was someone who showed up and did the work, she spent her life making sure our community had the resources it needed to grow. She worked hard to award Non profits a significant grant every two years. She believed in connecting people to solve challenges. Holly was the gold standard in community leadership. My thoughts continue to be with Dan, Darcy, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her spirit lives on in the family she loved so much and the community she served so well.
