Catholic Charities Service Corps (CCSC)

Catholic Charities Service Corps (CCSC) City of Light Service Corps is a year long service program. Come to Buffalo, New York to "discover your light and ignite it in others!"

Each year, 4 CCSC Volunteers immerse themselves in a year of service within the Western New York area. In addition to the coordinator, the volunteers receive support from Support People, staff, and a grassroots network of former volunteers (from many different programs) and community supports.

Mission: The CCSC offers young adults the opportunity to develop and share their gifts, education, and faith in a unique manner. By participating in challenging, meaningful work and living in an intentional, simple community with other volunteers, lay men and women will explore how their faith can be more fully integrated into all aspects of their lives. This experience allows young adults to respond to their own special calls to service, and examine the scope and causes of injustice as they work among people who are poor and marginalized. Lastly, this one year of service will impact young adults’ decisions and choices for the rest of their lives.

Visit Buffalo Niagara

Forefather of the alternating current electricity that gave Buffalo the moniker “City of Light”, the contributions of Nikola Tesla in harnessing the power of mighty Niagara Falls cannot be overstated.
Wish a happy 162nd birthday to Tesla by visiting the Falls and this statue, located on Goat Island at Niagara Falls State Park.

General information

Applications are accepted from January 1 thru July 15. We work to match people's skill sets with the placement needs. Once the application is complete, we review it, and arrange for an interview. Applicants hear within five days of their interview whether we find them to be a match for our program. The placement process begins once we receive the returned letter of intent. Orientation begins in mid to late August, followed by orientation at their placements.
