💻 Our Senior Center Technology Project is now active at over a dozen Senior Program locations throughout Erie County! This initiative to integrate laptops, monitors, and even gaming systems into Senior Center programming is a great way for older adults to stay familiar with modern tech! It also allows for the creation of innovative new activities, such as virtual trivia, where centers can collaborate with other centers for a little friendly competition - further expanding their social networks.
Join the movement of active older adults who are redefining what it means to age gracefully. Enjoy all the benefits from a healthy lifestyle!#olderamericansmonth2024

Solar Eclipse Safety Tips
🌚✨We are just 3 days away from the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th! As we gear up for this awe-inspiring celestial event, here are some tips to keep in mind to ensure you enjoy the eclipse safely:
🕶 Protect your eyes: Never look directly at the sun without proper eye protection, even during an eclipse. Make sure to wear certified solar viewing glasses to shield your eyes from harmful rays. If you wear prescription glasses, place your eclipse glasses over your normal frames. You can also consider using a handheld solar viewing device, a pinhole projector, or watching a live stream on tv or via the internet. If you plan to observe the eclipse with binoculars or a telescope, ensure they are equipped with solar filters to prevent damage to your eyes.
Free eclipse glasses courtesy of Erie County will be available at the BPO Box Office, the Buffalo Museum of Science and all branches of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System while supplies last.
🏠Consider watching from home: 1 million people are expected to be headed to our area for the event. Travel delays are expected, emergency responses could potentially be delayed as well. If you have health concerns or mobility issues, consider watching the eclipse from inside or near your home through a safe solar viewing method.
💊Stock up: Ensure that you have any prescriptions, medical supplies, personal care items, groceries, or anything else you may need well before crowds begin rolling in to our area later this week. This will help you avoid congestion in stores and on roads this weekend.
🚘Beware of traffic: If you decide to venture outside to view the eclipse, be cautious of increased traffic and crowded areas. Plan your outing in advance and choose a safe viewing location away from busy streets.
🥤Stay hydrated and cool: April weather can vary, so be sure to dress appropriately and stay hydrated, especially if you'll be spending time outdoors.
🐩Keep pets indoors: Remember to bring your
