COVID-19 TESTING UPDATE

1. We have a special COVID-19 hotline. Please call 716-348-3007 for anything COVID-19 related, including testing, results, or questions.

2. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide antibody (blood) testing to the wider community. Jericho Road patients can still access blood testing but need to communicate with their primary care provider. If you need antibody testing and are not a Jericho Road patient, we encourage you to reach out to your own PCP. If you do not have a PCP, contact us and we may be able to provide you with an order to get the test done elsewhere.

3. We are still providing outdoor walk-up community testing (nasal swab diagnostic tests only) on Tuesdays at 184 Barton Street from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. We are also providing indoor walk-in community testing (nasal swab diagnostic tests only) during our normal hours of operation at 1021 Broadway. Community testing remains barrier-free - you don't need to be a Jericho Road patient, have a primary care provider, have a prescription, or have insurance.

4. We are conducting another outdoor walk-up community testing event at Church of God Tabernacle (526 High Street, Buffalo 14211) next Friday, July 24 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Nasal swab diagnostic tests will be available barrier-free. (Antibody blood tests will not be available at this event.) Please wear a mask and dress for the weather.

As always, if you are coming to us for testing and you are not already a Jericho Road patient, please bring ID and your insurance card (if you have insurance). If you have health coverage, your insurance will be billed for your test. If you do not have insurance, don't worry! You will not be charged for your test.

We at the Erie County Department of Social Services (ECDSS) are proud to announce the launch of Mobile Document Upload for Temporary Assistance, SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, and HEAP (heating assistance) clients. Clients can now photograph documents and submit them to ECDSS from their Apple or Android device using the NYDocSubmit mobile application. NYDocSubmit is available in English, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Bengali, and Russian.

ECDSS clients can submit documents such as identification, proof of income, landlord statements, and social security number verifications. Clients log into the app, capture an image of their document using the camera on their device, and submit that document under the case number of the TA, SNAP, Medicaid, or HEAP case. Once the document is uploaded, a confirmation screen appears which indicates a successful upload. The app stores a 60-day history of document uploads made under that NY.gov ID.

“Mobile Document Upload will save our clients time and effort in supplying required documentation in support of their applications for services,” Erie County Commissioner of Social Services, Marie A. Cannon, commented. “Mobile Document Upload will also allow many clients to avoid visiting our offices to drop off documents, and will therefore reduce the risk of COVID-19 virus transmission.”

To download the NYDocSubmit app, users should search the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for “NYDocSubmit” and click on “Get” or “Install.” In order to use the app, clients will need to have a NY.gov ID. Clients who need to establish a NY.gov ID at https://my.ny.gov.

The 20-item housing survey asks respondents about their housing situation, with questions such as whether the respondent is behind on rent, and if so by how many months. The survey is being conducted by telephone and will attempt to reach tenants and landlords. The survey does not ask for the respondent’s Social Security Number, name, address, or any other personally identifying information.
