Clarence Toastmasters

Silent and listen were the words of the day this morning by Allen Deacon our word master.
Toastmaster Paul Justinger kept the meeting on time with a little humor mixed in.
We had two fantastic speakers this morning.
Steve Nawotniak gave his second speech which was about living with Bipolar disorder and how he has overcome the illness and is now helping other people that are in the same situation.
Suzanne Montalalou’s speech was about marketing yourself or business on video.
Keith Maderer was topic master and because we only had two speakers had lots of time for this Vidal part of the meeting.

Today we had another great gathering. Sometimes I think we hold a group Therapy session as well as building great skills and friendships along the way.

Joe Genco took on the role of Toastmaster as our friend Alan Deacon had some vehicular challenges. Joe guided us through a very busy agenda and kept it moving smoothly and efficiently. Thank you!

Paul Justinger and Darren Desantis kept us laughing with the invocation and humor of the day. Shawn Zadeh expertly guided us as the timer.

Fred Murschel took on the Wordmaster role and tried to "Assuage" our fears, but only a few were able to incorporate it into their talks. Kathy Heberle counted our Ahs, Ums and other filler words and realized that listening is just as important as speaking. She did a great job and it is nice to see our newer members taking on new roles and moving forward.

Toby Llop warned us that he was not very well versed as our grammarian. But after his report, we all agreed that he was "Sandbagging". He defintely has skills in this area and along with Kathy Heberle and several others, will give Joe Genco a run for his money. I personally have a lot to learn from their unselfish sharing and expertise. Thank you!

Noel Dill conducted a very poignant and effective Press Conference about the Malaysian Airline Tragedy as part his Pubic Relations manual. It was a different side of Noel that we haven't seen. It was subdued, sincere and informative without unnecessary emotion. Exactly what he was supposed to accomplish.

Dave Johnson shared a very personal, interesting and emotional roller coaster about his journey with his own faith. It was his 6th speech and kept us all engaged... and somewhat enraged, by some of the encounters that he had to deal with on his journey. Thank you for sharing your message! Looking forward to #7.

I was Speaker 3....
I just want to thank everyone for listening! I think I needed to share that story more for my self than as part of my Professional Speakers project. Sometimes life gives us great insight. Other times it slaps us in the face. We make choices every day that can have lasting effects on our life and health. Don't wait for the shoe to drop... find out what you want... and get there.

Today's meeting reminded me of our friend Marc Pearlman and his current journey. We are thinking about you Marc... be strong! Our prayers and thoughts are with you!

Our evaluators were Paul Justinger, Mike Bowers and Suzanne Montalalou. They provided great comments and helped the speaker (and group) focus on some real positives along with a few things to work on. Thank you!

We had several guests and great participation from new and existing members. The room was packed! I guess the secret is out.... Clarence Toastmasters is a great place to learn, share and develop your public speaking/leadership skills.

If you haven't made a meeting in a while... (you know who you are) please sign up for a role at our next meeting and join us. You are missed! Thank you for your continued support. Hope to see you on April 24th, 2014 at 8am.

Hello Clarence Toastmasters and Guests,

If you missed today's meeting, we had another full room. Darren kept us on time and moving smoothly as our Toastmaster.... (And many other roles as Sgt. At Arms)

Renee and I also announced the date (Friday – July 11th, 2014) for our Comedy Club fundraiser and social gathering, Mark your calendars and we hope everyone can make it. It is guaranteed to be a lot of fun.

Joe Genco provided some great Table Topics with participation from Melany Arrison, (great to have her back), Russ and Noel who all talked about how Spring is, or has affected them.

I shared my adventures in “Doing the right thing, even when it isn't easy” as part of my Storytelling manual and received another nice evaluation from Dave Johnson.

Dave Fahrenholz earned his CC (Competent Communicator) award as he successfully gave his 10th speech and shared why Obstacles in life can actually become Opportunities. Paul Justinger shared his evaluation with some great tips to help Dave as he moves forward.

Renee also earned her ACB and ALB (in an effort to complete her Triple Crown) with her Speech about giving effective evaluations, which she did effectively even without the use of the projector and screen. How to improvise, adapt and overcome Renee! Deb Wixson provided some great feedback and thoughts for the entire club in her evaluation of Renee.

We were fortunate to have many guests including our very own... Area Governor - Noel Dill, who was observing and offering suggestions for improvement and continued growth as our general evaluator.

Bill Cronberger added some humor to our timer's role as only he can. I am looking forward to Bill's next speeches... as he did manage to find his “lost” CC manual.

John Franke did double duty today as Ah counter and Grammarian and was very thorough and helpful in his assessment and report. John is also revving up to finish his CC over the next few weeks as he is working on Speech 9.

Fred Murschel joined our group today and Darren put him right to work as our Wordmaster.

It was a day filled with “Comity” which is a noun and is defined as “courtesy and considerate behavior toward others.” We had another fun and uplifting time and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Open House, next Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at 7:45 am.

I have attached a PDF of the Open House flyer with complete details. Have a great weekend!

Our February 27 Toastmaster meeting was very interesting.
We had a snow storm in the morning and even though some members arrived late, we had a packed house and three guests. Needless to say our word Master Darren DeSantis selected an appropriate word of the day “Snowstorm”.
Joe Genco was Toastmaster and did an awesome job keeping it all together. I especially enjoyed Paul Justinger’s speech about the sinking of the Edmund FitzGerald with the lyrics playing softly in the background. Renee Paser-Paul was second speaker with a powerful speech pertaining to her pregnancy and also a lesson about life. Renee is a fantastic speaker and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. David Johnson was Topic master and the topic was, what love do you possess inside that you would like to transfer to the next generation.
Other rolls this morning were: Deb Wixson said the Invocation, Darren Desantis Word Master and Ah Counter, Noel Dill Grammarian, Mike Bowers Humorist, Evaluator one Alan Deacon, Evaluator two David Fahrenholz.
