Today we entered phase 2 of our project. The riverbank is mostly done. Today we started working on the pollinator garden we're putting in.
Did you know we make all our own soil to make sure the plants and seeds we plant have the best chance?

Live after the storm - all that rain has an, impact on our waterways
Greenhouse capturing rain
PHEW! That was a lot of rain Buffalo! So much rain that it was in fact a RECORD! The previous record was held in 1893! Thankfully since then we have made lots of advancements in stormwater management. Here is our off-grid greenhouse capturing rain to use to water our plants. We use these plants to put them in our rain gardens and bioswales, which also keep run off out of our water systems. Pretty cool stuff!

Food Waste
Did you know that we collect *36 TONS* of food waste a year from the Lexington Co-op and turn it into amazing compost, also available at the Co-op and Urban Roots? Thus keeping it out of landfills, reducing CO2, and fighting climate change?

Permeable Pavement - Saving Our Water Systems
What is permeable pavement? It is a great alternative to cement & asphalt that keeps pollutants and high volumes of water out of our sewer systems and watersheds!
What's that sound? That is the sound of RAIN! Rain falling on the roof, running into gutters, and staying OUT of the sewer system!
