In 2014, the CIty received an Outstanding Achievement Award for the South Buffalo Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA), a 2,000-acre waterfront site strategically located in the bi-national region. The BOA brought to life a vision to reclaim hundreds of acres of former industrial brownfields which have contributed to the rebirth of this area, building on natural geography as well as key transportation and environmental assets.
