VA Western New York Healthcare System's Buffalo VA Medical Center phone system is currently being overloaded with many calls. As a result, some callers may receive a fast-busy or “all circuits are busy” message. This is a problem at other VA Medical Centers too as we provide additional information to Veterans about COVID-19 vaccinations, scheduling, and enrollment. We do have a plan to increase our phone line capacity. Thank you for your patience!

VA Western New York Healthcare System reached a milestone with OPERATION NEW HOPE's COVID-19 vaccination process. Today, we vaccinated our 10,000th enrolled Veteran patient, Mr. Taster Crews, 82 years-old, from Cheektowaga, New York! Mr. Crews served in a U.S. Army field artillery battery from 1963-65. Said Taster, "Everything went well - it was a good experience!" Joining Taster at OPERATION NEW HOPE's entrance is Courtney Domowicz and Sean Lindstrom, who lead VA WNYHS's COVID-19 Vaccination Team. Congratulations to all team members on achieving this milestone!

YOUR PATIENCE APPRECIATED: U.S. Mail, UPS, and FedEx shipping delays caused by storms emanating from the South and Midwest are negatively impacting VA Western New York Healthcare System's logistics. Supply packages are either delayed or have not been sent from distribution centers. Supplies include patient medications, pharmacy, infusion, and pain clinic stocks. We apologize for these delays in advance as we anticipate late deliveries from suppliers. Photo: Chicago Tribune.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE's RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY on FRIDAY:
The PET/CT Department at VA Western New York Healthcare System has stepped into the future with a newly installed scanner. The new scanner provides state of the art imaging which includes innovative, liquid cooled, all digital PET detector technology. The new technology is exponentially more sensitive, providing clearer, more precise images. This step forward into better image quality ultimately ends with shorter scan times while providing a better diagnosis for cancer treatment. One of the most notable upgrades of our new scanner is the capability to visualize smaller lesions than ever before and detect patient motion. VA WNYHS is proud to acquire this new PET/CT technology. Only 12 other sites in the entire United States have it, further demonstrating our commitment to Veterans.
