Well last week 1/2 of our shop team came down with COVID, and as is the case all over Erie County, the other half got it this week. Sorry to shut down again this week, folks, but we will have a fully healthy team out doing mobile repair this Friday afternoon. If your bike needs some light repair, we're happy to take a look and chat at Free Mobile Bike Repair at the Square Garden (Where the Scajaquada Creek Trail meets Fillmore Ave).
We'll also have mobile repair set up Saturday from 11-3 during our mega bash where all are invited: Open Streets Party: Forest Avenue.
Check back to bit.ly/bikemonthbflo for other Bike Month events all month long.

As summer 2021 ends at GObike's workshop, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to the supporters, members, and volunteers who visited us over the past few months. This summer we helped more than 400 folks fix their bikes, recycled 140 bikes back into the community, signed up 70 new and renewing members, and with support from Independent Health held 12 free mobile repair events across WNY! In addition, we welcomed two awesome new staff members, expanded our reach to Niagara Falls, and tested out an appointment-based system for open shop. To give our staff time to rest, recharge, and ride bikes, the workshop will be closed from August 26th through September 12th. Starting September 13th, we will be open Tuesdays 4-8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays Noon-4:00 p.m. for the fall and winter.

08/10/2021

Due to a potential COVID-19 exposure for our staff, the GObike Buffalo Community Workshop will be closing the shop for the remainder of the week. Any scheduled appointments on Tuesday (8/10) or Wednesday (8/11) will have to be rescheduled. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your support as we work to get the shop back up and running for our community.

As we come to the close of one of the most bizarre and challenging summers at our workshop we want to extend a big GObike thank you to all the friends, neighbors, and customers (new and returning) who continue to support our shop. Our hearts missed teaching, learning, and wrenching alongside you all and we look forward to the day we can do it again. Despite the uncertainty of the world, this summer we saw a tremendous increase in the number of people on bikes, and the number of bikes we were able to fix up and get back on the road. We are happy to know that this likely contributed to many smiles and awesome two wheeled adventures. The shop will be CLOSED from August 31-September 15 to give the four of us the chance to rest, reboot, and re imagine the road ahead!

Meet Jennifer! She is a local activist, avid crafter, and devoted mother of three wonderful kids. Jen’s oldest child recently learned to ride a two-wheeler and, after seeing the excitement on her daughter’s face, Jen decided it was time to get herself a new bike to join the family fun. She picked up this versatile refurbished Univega from our community workshop’s online store! At GObike, we believe that active mobility makes people's lives better. A joyful ride with the family or a mind-clearing solo trip to the park can make a big difference during these times of social distance and uncertainty. Happy New Bike Day Jen! We hope your new-to-you Univega will make quarantine life a little better.
