AT 01:41 HOURS THIS MORNING, LADDER CO. 13 WAS DISPATCHED AS THE SECOND DUE TRUCK TO A WORKING FIRE AT 256 GRANT ST. CREWS FOUND FIRE IN THE CEILING OF A ONE STORY COMMERCIAL LIQUOR STORE. 3RD PLATOON ON DUTY.

AT 14:15 HOURS, ENGINE 36 2ND DUE AND LADDER 13 FIRST DUE TRUCK WERE DISPATCHED ON THE ALARM OF FIRE TO 2022 DELAWARE AVE FOR A FIRE. CREWS ENCOUNTERED FIRE IN APT 6 ON THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE OCCUPIED MULTIPLE DWELLING. UNITS CLEARED THE SCENE IN JUST UNDER AN HOUR! 2ND PLATOON ON DUTY.

At 06:08 hours on Wednesday, April 18th, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the F.A.S.T. truck to 314 Breckenridge Ave for a house fire. Crews found fire on two floors of a vacant 2-1/2 frame. Ladder 13 performed FAST duties upon arrival. Third platoon on duty.

At 23:42 hours, April 12th, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the F.A.S.T. truck to 378 Dartmouth Ave for a house fire. Crews had fire on three floors of a vacant under renovation 2.5 story frame dwelling. Fourth Platoon on duty.

Engine 36 was relocated to Engine 23 as well. Ladder 5 was relocated to Ladder 13.

AT 04:00 HOURS APRIL 12, ENGINE 36 AND LADDER 13 WERE DISPATCHED FIRST DUE TO A P.S. AT 600 MILITARY RD AT AURUBIS BUFFALO FOR A MACHINE FIRE. ENGINE 26 ARRIVED FIRST AND WERE ESCORTED TO AN AREA WHERE THE ROOF DECKING WAS BURNING ABOVE A FURNACE DUCT PIPE. LADDER 13 SER UP THEIR TOWER TO ACCESS THE ROOF WHERE CREWS HAULED EXTINGUISHERS AND HAND TOOLS TO THE ROOF. CREWS FROM ENGINE 36 AND LADDER 13 , AMONG OTHERS THAT WORKED TO OPEN UP AND EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. IT TOOK OVER 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES TO BRING THE FIRE UNDERCONTROL. 4TH PLATOON ON DUTY.

At 22:01 hours on April 6th, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the F.A.S.T. truck to 346 Olympic Ave. Crews had fire on the second floor knee walls of a vacant 1.5 story frame. First platoon on duty. Ladder 13 cleared the scene in about 40 minutes.

At 09:00 hours Wednesday, April 4th, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the F.A.S.T. truck to 381 Shirley Ave. for a house fire. Engine 23 arrived with smoke showing from a 2-1/2 story frame. F40 further reported Heavy Fire Conditions. Ladder 13 arrived and performed FAST duties, remaining on scene for about an hour. First Platoon on duty.

At 16:27 hours March 20th, Engine 36 ( 2nd due ) and Ladder 13 ( 1st due truck ) were dispatched on the Automatic Alarm to the Buffalo State campus at 815 Grant St. Building #35 for an activated Master Box.

Engine 19 arrived and reported fire on the roof of the building and requested the Box filled out at 16:33.

Ladder 13 set up their bucket and were fed by Engine 36. The crew stretched a 1-3/4" line to the roof via the ladder. Crews then found fire in the roof decking and stretched a line to the interior.

Both Engine 36 and Ladder 13 crews operated in several areas opening up and wetting down hotspots.

AT 17:04, HOURS MARCH 1ST, LADDER 13 WAS DISPATCHED AS THE F.A.S.T. TRUCK TO 645 WEST AVE. FOR A REPORTED HOUSE FIRE WITH PEOPLE INSIDE.

LADDER 4 ARRIVED WITH A WORKING FIRE IN A THREE STORY FRAME MULTIPLE DWELLING.AN ADDITIONAL 2 & 1 WAS REQUESTED ENROUTE BY BATTALION 3 ON REPORTS OF THE OCCUPANTS INSIDE. LADDER 4 BEGAN REMOVING RESIDENTS WHILE AWAITING THE FIRST DUE ENGINE.

LADDER 13 ARRIVED AND SET UP FOR F.A.S.T. DUTIES. MEMBERS STAGED AT THE READY AFTER COMPLETING A 360 OF THE STRUCTURE.

LADDER 13 WAS REASSIGNED TO RECON FROM THE BASEMENT UP AFTER BEING RELIEVED OF FAST DUTIES.

THIRD PLATOON ON DUTY. UNITS CLEARED THE SCENE IN ABOUT AN HOUR.

ENGINE 36 WAS RELOCATED DURING THIS FIRE AS WELL.

Today, Members of the First Platoon went to the Buffalo Fire Department Training Academy to go over Foam Operations and the FOAM response rig with New Lieutenants enrolled in FLIPS class.

Topics discussed were FireAide 2000 carried by all pumpers, 3%- 6% AR-AFFF foam carried on the foam CBRNE and the Universal Gold 1%-3% carried by the State Foam unit. Also discussed were basic foam Operations and usage of the NYSOFPC Foam Response Trailer.

At 04:48 hours on February 14th, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the FAST. Truck to 577 Highgate Ave. The truck crew stood by after completing a F.A.S.T. size up as crews made quick work of fire in a basement. 3rd Platoon on duty.

At 16:07 hours on February 13th, Engine 36 ( 3rd Due ) and Ladder 13 ( 2nd Due Truck ) were dispatched to 23 Tremont Ave. For a report of a house fire. Engine 19 arrived with fire in a 2-1/2 story frame Dwelling with an exposure issue. Engine 36 laid in a handline to the attic of the structure , as the truck crew laddered for roof operations. The truck crew stood by til a line was brought to the attic then performed vertical ventilation. Engine 36 operated in the attic of the fire Building before being redeployed to exposure 4 to contain fire in that attic. Fire was Undercontrol in 28 minutes but crews remained on scene for over 90 minutes overhauling. Truck 13 redeployed to the interior to assist with overhaul once roof ops were completed.4th Platoon on duty, 3rd coming in.

At 01:40 hours on February 12th, Engine 36 ( 2nd Due ) and Ladder 13 (1st Due Truck) were dispatched to 317 North Park Ave. for a reported house fire. Both companies were enroute quickly as they were returning from a Box at Buff State. Engine 38 reported fire showing from the second floor. Ladder 13 arrived and reported heavy fire with an exposure issue on the #4 side. This brought an extra 2&1 to the fire. Engine 36 provided a water supply to Engine 38 before taking a handline into the structure and backing up 38 on floor two. The truck crew began to open up and confirm reports of all civilians out of the house. Ladder 13 set up their aerial for possible Tower Ladder Operations as well. Crews brought the fire Undercontrol at 02:25. Heavy Overhaul ensued post knockdown. Second Platoon on duty.

At 00:28 hours, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the 1st Due Truck to 49 Camelot Court. Crews had fire on the first floor of a 2 story multiple Dwelling. Ladder 13 arrived and performed searches and opening up. Quick work was made of this job. Ladder 13 is normally 2nd due here but Ladder 7 was Operating at another fire.

At 19:44 hours, Ladder 13 was dispatched on the Balance of the Assignment to Veterans Hospital for a report of a fire on the roof. Crews located fire on a 9th floor step down roof with the only access from the 11th floor. Units hooked up to a standpipe on floor 11 and stretched a line to the fire area where flames were coming from a rooftop vent pipe. Ladder 13 made their way up to the 11tb floor and stood by after assisting units with the stretch.

A second alarm was requested to the scene , bringing Engine 36 on that Box. Second Alarm units were returned quickly once water was placed on the fire.

Ladder 13 returned to Service in less than an hour.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Ken Sikora of Engine 36 3rd and Lieutenant Matthew Smith of Ladder 13 1st Platoon on their promotion to Captain as of Today. Both will be leaving 860 Hertel for the next chapter of their careers!

On March 6th, Firefighter Kamali Davis of Ladder 13 4th Platoon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Ladder Co. 13 3rd Platoon. Congratulations on staying in house!

At 01:44 hours, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the 2nd truck to 589 W.Utica for a reported structure fire. B44 arrived with a working fire on the first floor of a 2.5 story frame. Ladder 13 was assigned to the 2nd floor to check for extension instead of the roof position as the fire was quickly knocked. No extension found and searches proved negative.

At 22:48 hours, Engine 36 ( 2nd due ) and Ladder 13 ( 1st Due Truck ) we're dispatched to a house fire at 400 Skillen St. in Engine 26's First Due. Engine 26 arrived with a working fire in a 1.5 story frame dwelling. Engine 36 arrived and secured the hydrant that Engine 26 had tying them directly into it. Ladder 13 arrived and began first due truck duties. Although reported all were out, a search was still conducted to verify. The truck crew then opened up the fire area once Engine 26 knocked the fire, checking for extension. Engine 36 stretched a handline once establishing the water supply. They made their way to floor two where minor extension was found. Hydraulic ventilation was conducted. Companies encountered Collier Mansion type conditions ( aka Hoarder) which hampered Operations. Units cleared the scene in just over 60 minutes.

The 4th Platoon on Duty.

At 09:44 hours, Engine 36 and Ladder 13 along with Battalion 7 and F20 ( fill in for F40) were dispatched to the area of 1695 Elmwood Ave. for a reported Gas Line struck by a construction crew outside at that location. Engine 36 went on location with a large Natural Gas Line ruptured. Battalion 7 established Great Arrow Command. The location is in a Large industrial park formally part of the Pierce Arrow Plant. National Fuel was already on location and operating upon our arrival. They were awaiting an additional crew to assist with stopping the leak. Crews evacuated nearby structures and Engine 36 stretched a handline as a precaution. Units were on scene for about 75 minutes.

At 17:23 hours, Ladder 13 was dispatched as the second truck to 47 Kenmore Ave. For a reported structure fire in a restaurant. Dispatch notified units that the fire was in the Town of Amherst, B47 Continued the response of all units. B47 arrived with fire thru the roof of a 1 story commercial building occupied by an Asian Restaurant. Engine 23 arrived and laid in a 1-3/4" line. B-47 reported that Buffalo would share Operations of the fire.

Ladder 13 arrived and assumed 2nd due truck duties. They laddered the structure and Completed opening up the cockloft where heavy fire was taking hold. A handline was taken to the roof for Operations as well as the fire was not all accessible from the interior. Crews remained on the scene for over 60 minutes.

4th Platoon on Duty.

Shortly after 03:00 hours, Ladder 13 was enroute on a relocation when they were alerted to the Second Alarm at 59 Benzinger in Engine 28's Response Area. Upon arrival the Truck crew was as the F.A.S.T.. They performed some recon duties and remained in that function for the duration of their time at the incident.

Engine 36 was relocated to the Double Deuce's Quarters.

Once Ladder 13 cleared the scene, they were relocated to Ladder 10's Quarters.
Third Platoon on duty.

Unfortunately a 6 year old child perished in the blaze.

At 09:23 hours, Engine 36 ( 2nd Due ) and Ladder 13 ( First Due Truck ) we're alerted to the structure fire at 52 Foundry off Hertel Ave. Both companies followed the loom up into a working fire in a 1 story Type II Metal Corrugated structure. Engine 26 arrived and laid in a Big Line. Engine 36 secured a water supply and stretched a a second big line. Engine 36 was directed to a second doorway where they encountered heavy fire conditions in a mezzanine type loft. The fire was also impinging on the metal deck roofing. The crew worked their Big Line on both the main fire area and the metal roof to secure it's integrity. While this was being done, Ladder 13 forced entry and assisted Engine 26 on their side of an interior wall. The Truck crew laid out an escape rope as a precaution.

After almost 40 minutes, the big lines were broken down to 1-3/4 for manueverability.

The fire was brought under control with heavy overhaul in about 45 minutes.

The 3rd Platoon was on duty.
