Loyal to Local

Loyal to Local We’re working to encourage consumers to shop at local independent businesses, keep money in their communities, and contribute to a sustainable economy.

Learn more at www.loyaltolocal.com. We’re Loyal to Local. We’re developing a new way to help local small businesses develop mutually beneficial relationships with their customers, reward loyalty, and create the best shopping experience possible. When more dollars are spent in a local community, that money returns to the community at a far greater rate than dollars spent elsewhere – and helps foster job growth, innovation, and local investment, while reducing fuel emissions that result from driving to stores outside of the community and shipping from non-local businesses. Local businesses are more likely than large corporations to purchase local products, resulting in reduced environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable economy. We encourage consumers to reexamine where they buy goods and services, and to understand the impact their choices have on both the economy and environment. As entrepreneurs, we aspire to help others who have build their small businesses sustainably and contribute to the overall health and happiness of their local communities. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact us at [email protected].

Mission: Loyal to Local aspires to rebuild local communities through economic growth, by offering small, local, independent businesses the tools they need to compete with larger corporations. We strive to make it easier, and preferable, for customers to shop at locally owned businesses, thus helping these businesses succeed. By supporting local merchants, Loyal to Local seeks to help increase the number of dollars reinvested in local communities, foster local job creation, and reduce fuel emissions that result from shopping at non-local businesses, helping contribute to a healthy, sustainable economy and environment.

9 Things Drivers Need to Stop Saying in the Bikes vs. Cars Debate | WIRED

"When protected bike lanes are implemented well, they have been found to improve everyone’s safety, generate more revenue for shops along the street, and, yep, even speed up car traffic."

Before the next big wave of internet arguing, I’m proposing we retire a few overused and underwhelming opinions in the bikes vs. cars debate. Though I drive and bike, my allegiances skew in the cyclist direction (feel free to scroll straight the comments and yell at me). But beyond my personal judgments, there are a great number of that studies and data showing that most of the pro-motorist arguments just don’t hold up. I know it’s hard to be wrong, especially on the internet, but here are a few sentences I hope we won’t see much of in the future.

Locally owned businesses can help communities thrive -- and survive climate change

"A high degree of local ownership improves a community’s 'collective efficacy' — the capacity of its residents to act together for mutual benefit. Previous research has linked collective efficacy to population health, finding that engaged communities tend to create the kinds of infrastructure (think of farmers markets and bike lanes) that foster healthier choices."

Cities where small businesses account for a relatively large share of the economy have stronger social networks and more engaged citizens.
