Town of Niagara Lions Club

Hello friends! Raising money to support the individuals and charitable organizations we serve has been a challenge during these difficult times. Our major fundraisers, Monday Night Music Mania Food Concession as well as the Spaghetti Dinner/Basket Raffle have been cancelled due to the pandemic. As a result we have come up with something new, A Christmas Cash Raffle! I'm sure everyone could use some extra money this Christmas! We are only offering 200 tickets for sale at $10 per ticket. Please consider supporting the Lions cause and purchase a ticket. Contact us either on this page, email ([email protected]), or call Angelo 716-628-0244 (if no answer please leave message). The drawing will be at 6:00 PM at the Jetport Restaurant, December 2, and broadcasted LIVE on the Town of Niagara Lions Club page.

Over the past two days, the Sheridan Drive Lions Club,
St. Christopher Parish Outreach, and the Tonawandas Erie Canal Gateway Lions Club delivered Thank You Bags to the City of Tonawanda Cafeteria workers serving breakfast/lunch packages to the children every week since schools were closed in March.

We also delivered them to the Staff at Fallon Health, Weinberg Campus who are caring for our senior citizens.

We are so thankful to these workers who have continued to do their jobs caring for others during this pandemic! Thank you to all!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Our Club continues to reach out to organizations that are serving individuals and families during this healthcare crisis to provide support!

This past week, we provided 2 gallons of hand sanitizer for Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels to help keep their workers safe during this health crisis while they provide meals to the homebound.

We also donated $500 to both St. Ameliaโ€™s SVDP Society & St. Christopher Outreach Food Pantry to help them to continue to provide food for families who are struggling to make ends meet.

We are all in this together! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

WNY Lions - New York USA

Message from DG Regina Cecconi
March 14, 2020
Hello WNY Lions-District 20N,

As more cases of the COVID-19 virus are confirmed throughout the world, nationally and right here in NYS, our first instinct as Lions is to ask how we can serve and help our communities through this difficult time. For the safety of our Lions and members of our community the District has decided to postpone all events for the next 30 days, encouraging our clubs to do the same. Every effort we make to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus helps us all. Thank you to those clubs who have postponed and those in the process of rescheduling as well.

In addition to postponing our District training/forum to a later date (yet to be announced), the Cabinet meeting will take place via conference call on March 21 @10am to avoid any unnecessary gathering. I now ask that our clubs follow suit and take precautions one step further, and consider suspending all in-person club meetings for the same 30 day time period. I realize this may be a huge inconvenience, and possibly a bit extreme, but this is not a typical time in history. As dedicated Lions, we are committed to serving our fellow Lions, family, friends and community, and we must realize that taking these extra precautions, is the right thing to do.

For Lions, this is an eventful time of year as we gear up for a busy Spring of community service, officer elections, fellowship and general business, but this can also be done remotely via free conference calls, Skype, Facebook private group, Facebook Messenger chat, Zoom or email. Any club business can be handled effectively with a little patience, planning and cooperation. Now is the time to heed all safety precautions for ourselves as Lions, our families and our communities to help keep each other healthy and safe.

This is a fluid and fast changing situation; no one can predict how long or to what extent the COVID-19 virus will have on our communities. I ask that you be alert to the recommendations, patient with our health officials, follow the necessary mandates and personal precautions to keep yourself, and those around you, safe. This is a brief time to have to suspend meetings and events, but it could make a difference in the future health and lives of our fellow Lions and community.

The MD 20 State Convention May 1-3, as of right now, is outside the window of the stateโ€™s mandatory gathering ban. Depending on the course of the virus, this time frame may be extended. Our Council and convention committee are working diligently on gathering the necessary information for the Multiple to make an informed decision as to whether or not the convention will continue on, as well as alternative solutions for a uniform plan on the election of our district officers outside of a convention.

More information will follow as it becomes available. Thank you again for your dedication and service to our communities. Together, and in cooperation with our health officials, we can calmly deal with the situation at hand. For now, please be patient and supportive as we navigate this unprecedented time together. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any concerns or help.

Yours in Service
DG Regina Cecconi

Informational Letter from District Governor Regina Cecconi regarding Lions events and Covid-19.

Informational Letter from District Governor Regina Cecconi regarding Lions events and Covid-19.

Message from DG Regina Cecconi
March 13, 2020
Dear District Cabinet & WNY Lions Club Members:

Our Lions Clubs are experiencing a range of challenges associated with COVID-19, from member safety and economic factors - all within our rapidly changing health and community environments. We are monitoring the status of events in our community that are scheduled for the next few weeks based on the latest information from public health officials in all the Counties we serve.
Niagara County: https://www.niagaracounty.com/health/Services/Public-Health-Preparedness/NOVEL-CORONAVIRUS-2019-nCoV,
Erie County: http://www2.erie.gov/health/index.php?q=frequently-asked-questions-and-answers-about-covid-19-coronavirus
Chautauqua County: https://chqgov.com/public-health/public-health
Cattaraugus County: https://www.cattco.org/health

With that being said, we will need to officially 'postpone', not cancel all District 20N planned events for the next 30 days, except for re-targeted community service projects that are looking to be developed to assisting our local communities where and how we can. As a District, we also advise you to revisit all planned Club fundraising events - especially with those that involve serving food, to make sure that you follow to the letter, the advice and regulation of the CDC and County or Local health recommendations that could affect your event(s). There is nothing shameful or terminal about looking at rescheduling your events, but that is a decision that will have to be made by your Clubs.

These types of international health crises find our Lions clubs in a wonderful place where we can redefine an immediate need and answer the call to that need. With that challenge, we can lend our community service expertise and volunteerism - while we keep each other safe - to better the communities that we serve. Now may be a good time for our clubs to reach out to our local food pantries and shelters to see what Lions can help with food, feminine products, toiletries etc. Things we can help with, set up drop off/pick up locations, without gathering or getting in the way.

Thank you for your dedication and service to our communities. Together, and in cooperation with our health officials, we can calmly deal with the situation at hand, and continue to serve our communities while taking any and all personally safety precautions.

Yours in Service,
DG Regina Cecconi

Our Club had the pleasure of preparing dinner and dessert for the St. Christopher Neighbors in Need dinner held on Saturday, September 14th for individuals in need of a hot meal & fellowship! We served about 50 people with homemade minestrone soup, subs, Asian salad, and delicious trifles for dessert! Together, we serve! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™
The Sheridan Drive Lions prepared sandwiches, snacks, homemade cookies, fruit, etc. and went to work with the amazing volunteers of Buffaloโ€™s Good Neighbors in Firemenโ€™s Park serving a meal to about 100 individuals who are in need. โค๏ธ One of the grateful recipients, Willie, wanted to get in on the photos with us today. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™
