ISEED at University at Buffalo The Institute for Strategic Enhancement of Educational Diversity (iSEED) office at the University at Buffalo.

A university-wide institute at UB, the iSEED strives to build a culturally and intellectually diverse and academically inclusive community of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty and staff. The iSEED Graduate Scholars program is a professional development program designed to mentor PhD students and introduce them to the skills they will need as professional scientists. The iSEED Summer Research Experience provides undergraduate students hands-on research opportunites at UB.

Congratulations to 2013 iSEED Summer Scholar, Jack Pender!

CONGRATULATIONS TO: JOHN PENDER from the University of Buffalo, School of Nursing.

John is currently a junior at the University at Buffalo’s School of Nursing, where he is pursuing a dual major: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. This summer, John has accepted the North Shore LIJ Health System 2015 Summer Nursing Externship at Lenox Hill hospital located in Manhattan. Recently, John submitted his first manuscript called “Validation of Capturing Sleep Diary Data via a Wrist-Worn Device” with his mentor Dr. Jungqiust to the Sleep Health Journal of the National Sleep Foundation. John was recently elected as President of UB’s Nursing Student Organization for the upcoming academic year.

12:30PM-2:00PM: Poster Session in BEB Atrium (All students participate)

2:15PM-4:45PM: Oral Presentations (schedule of presenters will be released by 7/28)

Friday August 1st -- BUFFALO SUMMER RESEARCH DAY
Campus buses will be at Main Circle on Friday at 7:30 a.m. to transport students downtown for the research day. The buses will leave PROMPTLY at 7:40. Parking is difficult downtown, so even if you have a car you should plan to ride the bus. The program starts at 8 a.m. and will run until 2:30 p.m. The buses will bring you back to Main Circle immediately after the program ends.

The schedule for the event on Friday will be as follows. Your poster will be displayed at both sessions, but you will only need to stand by it for one – you’ll be free for the other to walk around and view the other posters. You’ll find out which poster session you’ll be in at check-in Friday morning.
