After the vote which defeated the 2am closing resolution, there was still a resolution to hold a county-wide referendum on the issue. We were just informed that the referendum resolution was NOT adopted by the Erie County Legislature. There will be NO referendum about the 2am rollback issue! And, there should NOT be a referendum. Why should every voter in Erie County be asked to vote on an issue that most of them have no direct stake in, one way or the other? And, referendums cost money! Why waste our county's money on this? We support economic freedom and growth in our community! And we support the working class people who would have been hurt by the rollback proposal.

Today, several Erie County legislators decided to bring more adversity to an already battered industry by stalling the vote on the 2am closing. All we asked for was a simple up or down vote to settle the issue. Neither the majority of legislators, nor the general public think this is a good idea. Yet some legislators have chosen to waste valuable public time to discuss this non-issue. Meanwhile, jobs hang in the balance. Working people and small business owners are already being hurt by the uncertainty as well as the prospect of being saddled with another regulation by government bureaucrats. It is time to contact the people responsible for this fiasco & tell them "ENOUGH"! Contact our legislators here to tell them to vote NO to rolling back the bar closing times to 2am. Members of the Erie County legislature each operate a staffed district office which offers residents a variety of services.

This is a letter from John P Sullivan the Project Coordinator of the Stop DWI Program in Central Police Services. It clearly refutes the arguments that a 2am closing time will prevent DWI's or even solve so called "quality of life" problems.

Here is a letter from Allentown homeowners Jim & Nicole dated November 12, 2015 that was received by the Erie County Legislature and added to the agenda for the next session taking place on November 19, 2015:

This is a link to the correspondence that the county has logged in for the record. A few highlights are the petition against the 2am closing time with over 2,200 signatures up to that time and a Facebook poll showing 55% against the new restrictions and only 23% for the more restrictive law:
