: Built in 1887, this bridge was originally called the Dell Bridge and spanned the space between the Beech Banks picnic grounds bordering the present Shakespeare Hill and the Children’s Green playground which is now a soccer field. It became known as the Ivy Bridge in the early 1900s. Today, it is a beautiful park feature adopted by Ingram Micro. bfloparks.org/adopt

Buffalo’s beautiful park system was designed 150 years ago by America’s first landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. In the 1950’s, construction of the Scajaquada Expressway divided and destroyed acres of parkland the jewel of Olmsted’s system, Delaware Park. Right now, we have an unprecedented opportunity to reverse this mistake and restore Olmsted’s legacy – but only if we can convince the Governor to help us .
Please make your voice heard by signing our petition. Tell the NYS DOT to rethink its current short-sighted plan and join with the community on a comprehensive approach that would reunite the park and reconnect the community, improve accessibility through safe complete streets, and enhance the economic vitality of this corridor for our City. We won’t have this chance again for another 75 years. https://www.change.org/p/new-york-state-department-of-transportation-save-delaware-park-restore-olmsted-s-legacy

: Frederick Law Olmsted favored water views above all others for their ability to soothe and uplift the human spirit. When Olmsted came to Buffalo in 1868, Front Park, at the confluence of Lake Erie and the Niagara River, attracted his attention and became one of three proposed locations for the future Buffalo Olmsted Park System. #FunFactFriday: Have you ever seen a cactus that is approximately 13-feet tall, and sitting in a greenhouse? We were at MLK, Jr. Park this week, and OMG THIS CACTUS BLEW US AWAY. Its flower is commonly known as the Night Blooming Cereus, and its seedling was planted in the late 80s by Jeff, Head Grower of MLK Jr. Park Greenhouse. Right now, we're thinking of naming it!! Any suggestions?? ;) This greenhouse is one of the many things that the BOPC takes pride in up-keeping! Help keep us going by making a year-end donation today! #bfloparks #buffalove #buffalove15 #explorebflo #visitbuffaloniagara
