Construction is officially underway on the new 9,840-square-foot addition to the Kit Carson County Courthouse!
The new addition, located on the south side of the courthouse, will house the DMV/Recording Office, Elections, and portions of the Sheriff’s Office. The project is designed to improve accessibility, increase storage and workspace, and better serve the residents of Kit Carson County.
Donn Witzel Construction has finished dirt work and pouring the footers, and the temporary sidewalk entrance to the courthouse is now open for public use during construction.
The modular building is being constructed by Ramtech Building Systems in Mansfield, Texas, providing a more cost-effective option with a faster completion timeline. Building pods are expected to arrive in June, with anticipated project completion in late fall and move-in planned for January 2027.
Thank you to the local contractors and partners helping make this project possible, including Salas Plumbing, Daniel Electric, the City of Burlington, and Wagner Equipment.
This project has been part of the Kit Carson County Strategic Plan since 2020, and we are excited to see it becoming a reality!

Congratulations Rose!

The kit Carson County Sheriffs Office would like to congratulate our newest Patrol Deputy Rose Farley on completing the Law Enforcement academy.

The Otero Junior College Law Enforcement Academy is a challenging 16-week academy that requires dedication, discipline, and hard work. Following graduation, she will begin intensive field training on patrol as she continues preparing to serve the citizens of Kit Carson County.
