Our friend Wendy came to visit today.
We sat for a bit and talked about all the things. She is a wealth of information, and shares it freely with me.
Today's wisdom:
"Keep your head where your feet are."
Sometimes, that's hard to do. Often, actually. Especially since the storm. Especially.
Seems like we are always either two steps ahead of ourselves, or a million steps behind. It's been a challenge every single day. Every minute of every day. There are tears. There's laughter among new friends. There are memories that will always be with us. There are fears that are new, but will never go away.
There is a a fierceness among us, to love and protect each other. There's an exhaustion that's bone deep. There's frustration. Humility. Steadfastness.
Wisdom from circumstances.
There's restlessness.
Gratitude.
A spirit of community. Togetherness. Transparency.
A desire to run. A determination to stay.
My across the way friend came over for porch time. They still can't wash dishes because their sinks are clogged up with wood chips and debris. God's Pit Crew is building them a new home. Hopefully, sooner than later they will be safe. Dry. Mold free. And the sinks and drains will run.
My river house friend is getting a new house, too. I get pictures often of the sunsets from the new property. No house yet. But the clearing has begun! There is light through the trees!
Samaratain's Purse is still here. In full force. Baptist on Mission is still here. For the long haul. God's Pit Crew is still here. Thankful for them.
Rebuilding Hollars is absolutely shining, in everything they touch. They are rebuilding our community, one home at a time.
Our friends in Roxboro/Timberlake are still right with us. Another load of supplies is coming within a few days.
My pancake friend Detra stays closer than a sister to me. Daily. Always praying. Always supporting. Always listening. Always.
Neighbors are still helping neighbors. Strangers are becoming family.
God is still good. He is here. We are protected and we are safe in Him
We ARE stronger than we thought. We ARE loved more than we ever knew.
We are not alone. Our friends, perfect strangers and The Lord Himself have been with us.
Every step of the way.
So.
We will keep our heads where our feet are.
We will focus on what matters.
Each other.
That's what matters.
