To everyone who voted for me, supported me, prayed for me, encouraged me, shared my posts, asked thoughtful questions, or simply believed in what this campaign stood for.. thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
While we did not win this election, I truly feel proud of what this campaign accomplished.
Running for Canyon County Coroner was never about a title for me. It was about standing up for the people behind the scenes, the deputy coroners, first responders, grieving families, and community members who deserve transparency, compassion, professionalism, and better support from the systems serving them.
Over the past several months, I have met some of the most incredible people throughout this community. I have listened to families share deeply personal stories, connected with first responders and healthcare workers, and had meaningful conversations with people who simply wanted better for Canyon County. Those conversations changed me, and I will carry them with me forever.
Most importantly, I am proud of myself for having the courage to step outside my comfort zone and run. That alone is something no one can take away. And while I may not have won the election, I do believe this campaign already created positive change and for that, I consider it a win.
At the most recent coroner budget hearing last week, discussions began surrounding increased advocacy for deputy coroners, including conversations about moving them up a pay grade and implementing peer support programs. Something that had never been advocated for before. That mattered deeply to me because I was one of those deputies… working long hours, carrying difficult scenes and heavy emotional burdens, often with little support and limited resources from leadership.
My goal has always been to improve the working conditions and retention of deputy coroners so families receive the thorough, timely, compassionate death investigations they deserve. When deputies are overworked, understaffed, and constantly leaving the profession, families ultimately experience the gaps in service. These are conversations that needed to happen, and I am proud this campaign helped bring them to light.
To the other candidates who stepped forward and put themselves out there publicly.. thank you. Running for office takes courage, vulnerability, and sacrifice, and I respect every person willing to serve their community in that capacity.
I want to congratulate Coroner Crawford on her reelection and wish her and the entire office the best moving forward as they continue serving Canyon County families and our first responder community.
Above all else, I am thankful to God, my family, my friends, my coworkers, and this community for supporting me through this journey. No matter what, my heart for service, advocacy, and this community will remain the same.
