Thank you to City of Port Hueneme for taking a moment to recognize former Mayor Tony Volante and Air Force veteran who passed away in April. His wife Barbara Volante and their daughter Lucy were honored as our special guests.

In 1952, at the young age of 17, Tony Volante joined the Air National Guard. In 1955, the family moved across the country, settling in Burbank, CA. He then joined the 146th Air National Guard Base in Van
Nuys, CA. He served at the enlisted rank from 1953 to 1970 and as an officer from
1970 until his retirement.
General Volante received his promotions to Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel in a short period of time. He received the Relative Rank of Brigadier General from the State of California.Brigadier General Anthony Volante retired in October 1993 with the rank of Colonel in the United States Air Force. Volante served on the Port Hueneme City Council for 12 years from 1994 to 2006, but his legacy spreads across Port Hueneme and Ventura County, and ripples out well beyond family and friends. After he left the City Council, he and his wife Barbara remained active with the Boys and Girls Club and regularly attended all the City's special events. On April 13, 2026, Mr. Volante passed away at the age of 90 years old. His legacy will live on for generations to come in the Port Hueneme community.
