Candidates met at the courthouse to draw for ballot position…and obviously, everybody wants that #1 spot.

I decided to let my son do the drawing instead of me. Long before we got to the courthouse, he told me, Daddy, I’m getting #1.

My adult mind immediately went to the odds. There were three choices.

But I didn’t tell him that.

He believed he was drawing #1. Simple as that….

When the moment came, he walked right up in front of a room full of grownups he didn’t know, without a bit of hesitation, reached in, and drew our number.

He called it. #1.

I don’t know who was more excited, him or me.

We both survived our first day back at school for the 2026–2027 school year!

My son started 2nd grade, and I started my 11th year as a welding instructor.

As November 3rd gets closer, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about what the last 10 years of teaching have meant to me.

I’ve had the opportunity to teach so many of our local young people, watch them learn a trade, grow up, graduate, go to work, and start building lives of their own. I’ve watched many students walk into my shop unsure of themselves and leave knowing they had a skill nobody could take away from them. .

If I’m fortunate enough to be elected Ouachita County Judge in November, this school year will be bittersweet. I unfortunately won’t get to finish the entire year with my students.

That part will be hard. I’ve spent a decade doing something I truly enjoy, alongside some pretty incredible young people.

But at the same time, it’s exciting to think about having the opportunity to serve those same young people….and their families, in a different way.

Teaching has taught me a lot more than just welding. It has taught me patience, responsibility, how to work with different personalities, how important it is to listen, and that sometimes the best thing a leader can do is give somebody an opportunity and believe in what they’re capable of.

So, yeah… it’s a little sad, but also exciting.

For now, though, we’ve both got school tomorrow. 😂

My kiddo is always asking to make campaign videos. He knows Dad is running for county judge, and in his mind that means a county judge has to be super smart, and help everybody.


He also knows some people are helpful and some are… well, not so helpful.

He’s always coming up with the wildest campaign ideas. My usual response is the typical grown-up answer: “Ahhh, we can’t do that.”

Then I caught myself thinking… I’m not trying to follow the unwritten rules made up by career politicians.

So here you go.

Even the wildlife agrees… 😉🐢

We enjoyed all the fun and games at the Star Spangled Spectacular! Including getting wet in the dunking booth! The fireworks were awesome as well! So thankful to the donors that people from Ouachita County and surrounding areas are able to enjoy such an amazing celebration of America! 🇺🇸 🎆

Being a father isn’t defined by one day, how many kids you have, or how others see you. It’s defined by a lifetime of commitment….being dependable, being present, never giving up and choosing your family first every single day.

Anyone can paint the perfect picture with words about who they are. What truly matters is the truth: who you are when no one is watching, the example you set, and whether the people who depend on you can count on you.

Happy Father’s Day.

To my dad…..I could never thank you enough, being a dad looked so easy watching you. I never saw fear, or worry and you always put your family before yourself. I am blessed to have you as my example.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it to Gazebo Fest this year. I had planned to set up, visit with everyone, and enjoy the day, but the campaign had to be put on hold for something far more important.

My wife and I were blessed to welcome our second child into the world….a healthy baby boy.

Today, we were overjoyed to bring him home and spend our first full day together as a family of four. There are moments in life that remind you what truly matters, and this is one of them.

Thank you to everyone for your understanding, your prayers, and your support. I look forward to getting back out, seeing everyone soon, and continuing the campaign. Until then, we’re soaking up every minute with our newest little blessing.

Some seek power by saying whatever people want to hear. Some quietly do the work…ask for no praise, and let their character speak for itself. In the end, character carries more weight than ambition ever will.
Thank you to all those that silently do work without the spotlight. We know who you are and people see what you do.

For those who gave it all, there are no words.
To the families who carry that loss every day…
I can’t imagine the pain.
Because of your sacrifice, we live a better life with freedom.
We remember and honor you today and always.

With the utmost respect.

I will instill in my children the importance of remembering the sacrifice that was given and honoring those who paid that price.
