Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)

DoDEA is preparing to safely open schools in-person systemwide for the 2021-22 school year, as local health conditions permit. But, we also recognize that students and families with health vulnerabilities related to COVID-19 may still have concerns about returning to school. To support all students, we will continue to operate full-time in-person schools and also provide a full-time virtual learning option for grades K–12 students.

Please note, the full-time virtual option enrollments will be limited to 2,000 students systemwide and parents that choose to enroll their students in the Virtual School option must agree to remain for the entire school year. Find more information here: https://bit.ly/3rQoCwP

2nd Grade math enrichment students worked with Mrs. Thompson to experiment with measurement and scale. The group read an excerpt from Gulliver’s Travels, where Gulliver visits the land of Brobdingnag and encounters giants who are about 10 times taller than the average man. They then used measurement, estimation, and basic multiplication to enlarge their own faces by about 10 times! Check out the results!

About DoDEA

DoDEA is a field activity of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. It is headed by a director who oversees all agency functions from DoDEA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

DoDEA's schools are divided into three regions; DoDEA Europe, Pacific and Americas. Each region is managed by a Director for Student Excellence. Within each of these three regions, schools are organized into districts headed by superintendents.
