Lately life has reminded me just how strong small-town communities really are.

Over the past few weeks, my family has experienced both heartbreak and challenges that have tested us in ways I never expected. Through it all, I’ve seen neighbors step up without being asked, first responders answer the call no matter the hour, and community members rally around one another when it mattered most.

That’s exactly why I’m running.

I believe leadership isn’t about titles or politics—it’s about showing up. It’s about listening, working hard, and being willing to do the job even when nobody is watching.

Our communities deserve someone who understands the realities of rural life, supports our emergency services, stands up for agriculture, and works to ensure future generations have every opportunity to succeed right here at home.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared encouragement, and supported this campaign. Every conversation matters, and I’m grateful for each one.

I’m excited to keep meeting with folks across the district and hearing what matters most to you.

Out here, the future of Baca County is running right beside us.

Every ranch, every family, every small business, and every child growing up under these wide-open skies deserves a voice that understands rural life because they’ve lived it.

We don’t need someone making decisions from behind a desk hundreds of miles away. We need leadership that knows what it means to check water tanks before daylight, fight fires when the community calls, support local agriculture, and look out for our neighbors when times get tough.

I’m committed to protecting our rural way of life, supporting our farmers and ranchers, strengthening our local economy, and ensuring that future generations have every opportunity to stay, work, and raise their families right here at home.

The next generation is counting on us.

Some roads don’t need pavement to lead somewhere important.

Out here, we know what hard work looks like. We know what it means to pray for rain, fight through drought, maintain miles of county roads, and still show up for our neighbors when things get hard.

Baca County deserves leadership that understands rural life because they live it every single day — not just during election season.

Some nights remind us exactly why we fight so hard for this county.
The smoke, the sleepless nights, the exhausted first responders, the ranchers checking cattle by flashlight, the families praying the wind shifts.

Baca County doesn’t quit when things get hard. We show up. We help our neighbors. We protect what we’ve built here.

I want to apologize for being a little MIA recently. We’ve had a lot going on over here the last several days.

I’ve been out every night in the blade helping fight fires as much as I can. As many of you know, on the night of the first fire this week, my father-in-law was involved in a very serious tanker accident while on his way to the fire. Since then, he has remained in the ICU in Colorado Springs with my wife and mother-in-law by his side.

At home, my oldest daughter and son have stepped up tremendously helping keep everything together while I’ve been fighting fires all week and weekend. We’ve also been working nonstop making sure our livestock stay safe as these fires continue getting closer every night.

I also want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who has stepped up during this time. From our first responders putting themselves in danger, to the farmers and ranchers bringing water, equipment, and support, to the community members donating snacks, drinks, supplies, and offering prayers — every act of kindness has mattered more than you know.

In times like these, this community shows exactly what rural America is made of. Everybody is seen, appreciated, and valued.

Please continue praying for rain, for our firefighters and first responders, for the families affected by these fires, and for everyone still out there battling them tonight.

A little snow on the land is a reminder of something important — even after the driest seasons, hope still shows up.

Our county was built by resilient people who knew how to push through hard times and keep fighting for the future. That same mindset is what Jason Franklin wants to bring to District 2.

For our families.
For the next generation growing up here.

These past few months have been nothing short of humbling. Getting to sit down, shake hands, and truly talk with the people of Baca County—at meetings, benefit auctions, and everywhere in between—has been an honor.

You’ve shared your concerns, your ideas, and your hopes for our community. Those conversations have helped me build a real plan for the future—one that reflects your voice.

Even working within District 2 already, I know there are things we can improve. And I’m ready to do just that.

Don’t let the stress of everyday life keep you from actually living it.

Take the silly selfie with your kids.
Get on the floor and be the bucking bull for your grandkids.
Take that extra five minutes with your friends.
Slow down long enough to enjoy the still moments in between it all.

Because those are the moments that matter most.
