Early voting is open now through Friday, May 22. Primary Runoff Election Day is Tuesday, May 26.

If you voted Republican in the March primary, this is your runoff. Even you didn’t vote in March, you can still vote in the runoff.

Your vote decides who’s on the ballot in November. Let’s keep Texas RED!

Somewhere in HD 88 this week, a kid who grew up on a farm, or in the oil field, or in a town most people have never heard of... is the first in their family to get a college degree. Another one is picking up their high school diploma. Another is headed to a trade program. Another is taking over the family business.

All of you deserve recognition. Congratulations, Class of 2026.

Armed Forces Day is our chance to say thank you to the men and women serving on active duty today. From West Texas to bases around the world, they represent the very best of us.

We are proud of their service and grateful for their sacrifice.

Fires are burning across multiple West Texas counties right now. Fourteen thousand acres near Canyon in Randall County. A fire that crossed the New Mexico border into Texas. Volunteer departments running on no sleep.

More than 90% of wildfires in Texas are caused by humans, which means some are preventable. During hot, dry, and windy conditions, avoid any outdoor activity that may cause a spark: debris burning, welding, working on equipment. And please respect the burn bans.

My prayers are with everyone affected. Pray for rain.

Firefighters were called to respond to several fires around the Texas Panhandle and High Plains region on Thursday, multiple of which were still burning Friday morning.

Great visit with the Board of Directors at Golden Spread Electric Cooperative in Amarillo.

Golden Spread serves as the generation and transmission cooperative for 16 member distribution cooperatives across West Texas and eastern New Mexico, covering 24% of the state of Texas. These 32 board members represent rural communities that depend on reliable, affordable power.

We covered a lot of ground: wins from the 89th Legislative Session and how they benefit West Texas, a preview of what is coming in the 90th, data centers and the construction and interconnection challenges that come with them, and property taxes and appraisal reform.

Thanks for the invitation. I enjoyed spending time with you today.

This week we pause to honor the police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We also thank those who continue to serve.

In West Texas and across our state, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for us. We are grateful, and pray for your safety and for your families.

If you ask me what makes our family function, the answer is Robin.

She has been a force through every season of our life. She is the best mom and I’m so proud of the way she has helped raise our kids.

To Robin and to every mom across HD88, thank you.

Happy Mother's Day!

The House Committee on State Affairs held another full day of hearings on Tuesday, and I want to keep West Texans in the loop on what we are working on in Austin.

We heard testimony on two important topics: public-private partnerships and microgrids and distributed energy resources. Both have implications for Texas communities, from how we structure and fund infrastructure projects to how we build a more reliable power grid for Texans.

We brought in voices from across the state, including ERCOT, local government leaders, energy experts, and community advocates. The goal is to understand what’s working, what is not, and where the legislature needs to act.

This committee is working hard, and there is more to come. I’ll continue to keep you updated.
