OK, Everyone - Phew! This is a long one, but worth the read. Bear with me, please….
With the Republican Primary Election approaching this Tuesday, I wanted to take a moment to answer a question that many residents have asked me throughout this campaign:
"Why do you want to be the Town of Lenox Highway Superintendent?"
Over the past several months, I've spent a lot of time out and about talking with residents, attending community events, town meetings, knocking on doors, and listening to concerns. If we've had the opportunity to speak, you've likely received a copy of my resume outlining my qualifications, experience, and credentials.
While experience and qualifications are important, I believe it's equally important for voters to understand “why” I am seeking this position.
WHY?
The answer is simple: I love this town and I want to serve the people who call it home.
Lenox is where my family lives, where I live/work, and where I am invested in the future of our community. I travel these roads every day, just like you. I see the challenges we face, but I also see tremendous opportunities to improve how we manage and maintain the infrastructure that residents depend on.
I am not running for a title. I am running because I believe we can raise the bar for what residents should expect from their Highway Department.
I believe we should strive for:
✔ Safe and well-maintained roads that are managed with long-term planning rather than short-term fixes.
✔ Better drainage and infrastructure management to address problems before they become costly failures.
✔ Responsible equipment management that protects taxpayer investments and maximizes the life of our equipment fleet.
✔ Efficient use of taxpayer dollars through careful planning, accountability, and prioritization of projects.
✔ Open communication with residents so people understand what work is being done, why it is being done, and how decisions are being made.
✔ A culture that supports and values the hardworking Highway Department employees who serve our town every day.
I want to establish a higher standard of transparency, accountability, professionalism, and long-term planning within the Highway Department. My goal is not simply to maintain the status quo, but to continuously look for ways to improve operations, protect taxpayer investments, and better serve the residents of Lenox.
Most importantly, I believe the Highway Superintendent should be accessible, approachable, and accountable to the people they work for—the residents of this town.
WHY I'M PREPARED
My professional experience has centered around many of the same responsibilities required to successfully lead a Highway Department.
As a small business owner, I understand what it means to manage budgets, control costs, maintain equipment, schedule work, and be accountable for results.
I have extensive experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment, planning projects, managing resources, coordinating work, and solving problems in the field. Every day requires balancing quality, efficiency, safety, and cost—many of the same decisions a Highway Superintendent must make.
In addition to my experience in construction and business management, I have also managed union crews on major infrastructure projects at LaGuardia Airport. That experience taught me the importance of communication, teamwork, leadership, accountability, and working collaboratively with a union workforce to accomplish common goals.
I believe that experience is especially relevant because the Town of Lenox Highway Department is represented by Teamsters Local 294. I understand that a successful Highway Department depends on strong leadership, mutual respect, and a positive working relationship between management and employees.
My experience includes:
✔ Business ownership and financial responsibility
✔ Managing and maintaining expensive equipment and assets
✔ Supervising and coordinating union workforces
✔ Project planning and ex*****on
✔ Budgeting and cost management
✔ Working outdoors in all conditions and seasons
✔ Solving real-world problems with limited resources and practical solutions
I understand that earning your trust means more than talking about ideas—it means demonstrating the ability to lead, make sound decisions, and deliver results.
This campaign has never been about politics for me. It has always been about service, responsibility, and a desire to leave our town better than we found it.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to speak with me, ask questions, share concerns, and support this campaign. I am grateful for every conversation and every opportunity to earn your vote.
On Tuesday, I respectfully ask for your support in the Republican Primary Election.
Together, we can raise the bar, strengthen our Highway Department, and move Lenox forward.
If you believe in this vision for the future of Lenox, I would greatly appreciate you sharing this post. In a community like ours, word of mouth matters. Every conversation, every share, and every recommendation helps spread the message and ensures more residents have the opportunity to learn about my qualifications, my vision, and my commitment to serving our town.
Thank you for your support.
