My name is Anne and I am an Air Force military spouse, mixed media artist turned social worker establishing a creative therapy program for the military community. After a particularly difficult tour where I navigated the military insurance system for five weeks while in crisis, I picked up a paintbrush and art literally saved my life. That is when I shifted my career from Graphic Design to Social
Work graduate student and began selling my artwork professionally to fund this program. With military mental health statistics on the rise and a very real stigma amongst the ranks, it’s time to get creative. I am establishing an all inclusive, creative therapy program & community for active duty military, veterans and their families--as mental health symptoms know no age, gender, or race. It is not enough to recognize the sobering statistics and stigma, it is time to adapt, provide more options and adequate mental health care to our nation’s military community. To teach simple, creative and accessible coping skills to the military community
2. To help prevent veteran mental health statistics by teaching coping skills while active duty.
3. To help lessen the 24% unemployment rate (2021) of the military spouse community by eventually providing job opportunities to the already certified clinicians
4. To establish a world-wide online military mental health community to provide support and connection to those trying to navigate military life.
