Last night we approved the budget for FY 26-27.
I want to personally thank our Village Staff for their hard work and dedication. Your efforts often go unnoticed, but the work is essential to keeping our Village running smoothly.
Throughout the year, the Board reviews the Village’s finances, and the budget is a working document that is adjusted as needed.
A village budget is a financial plan, not a promise that every dollar will be spent. It is based on the best information we have at the time.
Keep in mind, there is budget and there is actual. A budget is your financial plan for the future, while actual is the real amount of money that was spent or earned.
The amount shown in the budget includes things like daily operations, public safety, equipment, capital projects, grants, and other planned expenses. It does not mean all of those funds will automatically be spent.
Last fiscal year, the Village spent approximately 75% of its’ approved budget, demonstrating that we manage our finances carefully and do not simply spend everything that is budgeted.
As a trustee, I take the responsibility of managing taxpayer dollars seriously. We will continue to monitor our finances, review our budget throughout the year, and make adjustments when necessary to ensure we remain financially responsible.

I want to personally thank everyone who helped make Capitan’s Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday such an incredible success!
I’m proud of what our community accomplished together. Thank you to the Village of Capitan, Lincoln County, our volunteers, first responders, vendors, sponsors, participants, and everyone who worked behind the scenes.
From the Parade, Civil War Camp to the history presentations, great food, vendors, and an outstanding rodeo, it was a weekend to remember.
Most importantly, we honor and thank the brave men and women who have fought and served our country. Because of their sacrifice, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we celebrate today.
I’m honored to serve this amazing community. May God bless our veterans, our military, the Village of Capitan, Lincoln County, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸❤️

I would like to express our sincere appreciation to New Mexico Tech and our Village staff for its continued support in monitoring our village water well levels. Your expertise and ongoing assistance play a vital role in helping us responsibly manage and protect one of our community’s most valuable resources. We also appreciate the recent field visit, which provided valuable insight into our water system, and thank our mayor and staff for their continued support and dedication. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to continuing to work together for the benefit of our residents. God Bless Our Beautiful Village

What an eventful day we had celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The greatest day in history!

Jesus dying on the cross showed His love, but His resurrection shows His power.
And death did not win.
It’s the day everything changed!

This day gives us hope.

And today we lay everything in Your hands.

Every worry,
Every burden,
Every unanswered question.

And we choose to rest in the truth that You are with us.

Fill our hearts with peace as we end this day.
Remind us that no matter what tomorrow brings, we can come to You.

Thank You for Your love.
Thank You for new life.
Thank You that the story didn’t end at the cross.

It ended in victory.

I would like to thank those that have been able to attend the community meetings we’ve had at the Village Hall. From the beginning, I wanted to help organize community meetings to give citizens of Capitan the opportunity to gather more data, share our concerns, ask questions, and hear the challenges our Village faces. We are All part of this community, and it is important to share information and work Together to find a respectful balance. The more information we have, the better we can make our own opinions and decisions.
I understand we all may agree and disagree at times. And that is okay. When I took this oath of office, I understood, decisions were going to be hard at times. I will make these decisions. I consistently seek information and work with staff to gain understanding of the daily operations of our Village.
It is frustrating to know that there are so many rumors and gossip in our community. Not knowing the true answers and just assuming. We should be proud of our community, Home of Smokey Bear! Not blasting all the negative comments and making our town seem like the worst place in Lincoln County.
I encourage everyone to take time and visit Village staff. We have a wealth of knowledge that we should be proud of and appreciate the work they are doing. They have accomplished so much that was left undone from previous administration. Our Mayor is available during regular business hours to talk.
I look forward to having more meetings to discuss important topics of Capitan. It’s exciting to know that work is just getting started. I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and Mayor to make Capitan a great place for our business, families, and neighbors.
