Welcome to the 6/11 City Council Recap!
Last night, City Council held its second public hearing on the transition to voting districts and received public input regarding the composition of potential districts. Council discussed topics related to the transition to districts and directed the demographer to begin drawing maps that include four districts and an elected Citywide Mayor with a 2 year term. As a reminder – these changes will take effect in 2028. You can learn more about the districting transition on our website!
Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2026–27 City Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Program, establishing priorities and investments for the community’s future. The final adopted budget will be on our website soon – visit the URL below to view the document in its entirety.
Finally, Council adopted a resolution ordering the 2026 General Municipal Election. Although the City is in the process of transitioning to districts, the change won’t take effect until the 2028 election. Candidates who run in 2026 and are elected to their seat will serve a four-year term. If you’re interested in running, the nomination period is 7/13-8/7 and you can contact the City Clerk’s office by emailing [email protected] with questions or to schedule an appointment.
