Councilman Dan Carver Elected Carlisle City Council Member

01/01/2026

Happy New Year!

Today is my last day as a council member. I've resigned from position so that tomorrow I can take over the office of Mayor. I'm going to stop posting to this page and start posting to the Carlisle Iowa Mayor page now, so give it a like and follow to keep up with all the great things that are happening in Carlisle.

With my resignation, there is an open seat on the council. The new council will appoint someone to fill that spot at our first meeting, January 12. If you are interested in being considered, you need to contact city hall next week and ask for an application, which would be due a week from today (January 7th).

I appreciate all of the support that I've gotten from everyone over the last two years, and I look forward to what we're going to be able to accomplish together in the years to come!

Small towns can do big things! Get ready for a big year, Carlisle!

Carlisle is hosting a retirement party for Drew, Doug, and Justin tonight to thank them for their service to the city. It's a come-and-go as you please event where anyone can stop by and say hi... or maybe tell them one last thing they should do to help the city 😉

Light Up Carlisle was a huge success! Thanks to everyone for making it happen and to everyone who showed up. This was our first time trying this new format and I think it worked out great. Stop by Chamber Park sometime and check out the tree, now all lit up for Christmas!

There were a lot of police last night at the Indianola Walmart, but the only crime was my horrible gift wrapping.

Last night's Shop With a Cop event, put on by the Carlisle Police Department, was a huge success, even with the snow. Carlisle's finest were able to take many kids shopping in Walmart to fill out their Christmas lists. There were a lot of smiles and excitement throughout the evening. This tradition is another reason why I love living in a small town.

Thanks to the officers and to Chief Koch, Jennifer Bird for organizing, to everyone who donated money, and to all who volunteered to wrap the presents. Merry Christmas!

Soon we'll be ice skating again right here in Carlisle!

Becoming mayor is not like bankruptcy. You don't just get to declare it and then it's true. You become mayor when people vote for you.

This Tuesday, November 4th, I need everyone to go to their polling stations and vote. Not just for mayor, but for city council and school board too. Polling places are either in the Council Chambers if you're in Allen 2 (mostly north of School Street Carlisle), the Avon Clubhouse (Polk County), or the community building (Allen 3, everything south of School Street and Warren County).

I'm excited for the opportunity to lead Carlisle as your mayor, and I need your vote to do it. VOTE!

PS: I know this is not how bankruptcy works.
