9/3/2026, 2:05 p.m. – Update: Police Activity at Carlsbad High School
Earlier today, Carlsbad Police received a report of a phoned-in threat involving Carlsbad High School. We want to clarify that the threat was made by phone, and officers did not locate a physical threat on campus.
We take all threats seriously, regardless of how they are received, and our priority is ensuring the safety of students, staff and our community.
Out of an abundance of caution, Carlsbad Police Officers, along with our law enforcement partners, responded to the school and are conducting a thorough, methodical sweep of the campus to ensure all areas are carefully checked and cleared. We appreciate everyone’s patience while officers complete this process.
At this time, there is no indication of an outstanding suspect or danger to the surrounding community. The threat appears to be unsubstantiated, and we are continuing to investigate the origin of the call.
Officers remain on scene to assist with traffic control as students are released from campus.
The school has communicated directly with families regarding student release, pickup and after-school activities. Please follow the school’s instructions for additional information.
9/3/2026 12:00 p.m. - Police Activity at Carlsbad High School
Carlsbad Police received a report of a phoned-in threat at Carlsbad High School. In collaboration with the school, a precautionary lockdown was initiated while officers fully investigate.
Officers are on campus, along with our law enforcement partners, to thoroughly check the school and investigate the report. The police response and lockdown are precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff while we complete our investigation.
Students and staff remain in lockdown and cannot be picked up at this time. Parents and guardians are asked not to come to campus and to keep the surrounding streets clear for responding personnel.
Parents and guardians who are already in the area are being directed to the southwest parking lot at The Shoppes at Carlsbad.
The school is communicating directly with families, and we will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
