We are Locals Helping Locals in three ways – Relief, Recovery and Resilience. Relief: First, we must help our neighbors get immediate relief in the crisis – food, water and shelter for families, and for their animals. Recovery: We are deeply involved in the Long Term Recovery process as part of a coalition including the local, state and federal agencies and organizations involved in this crisis to
coordinate and facilitate the rebuilding and recovery process of the Methow Valley community. Resilience: At CCAN, we recognize that climate change will continue to challenge us and to impact our lives. It is our goal to rebuild with Sustainable Practices and Resiliency. This means researching the latest technologies and developments that will help protect our community from future catastrophe. It also means asking for dollars whenever we can, so that we can order materials through our local businesses and hire local labor to do the work needed. If you were impacted by the fires, on our website we are working to provide up to date and thorough information.
1. Fire updates
2. What assistance is available to you,
3. Personal contact to assist you with the steps you need to take to get your needs met.. For those of you who are here to help, this is a long term process. Over 250,000 acres have burned and after the latest flare up, atleast 320 homes have been lost. We have forty miles of farms, fences and power poles gone… pastures, fields and forest burned, barns and out buildings lost,….melted tractors, cars and motorcycles. Its gigantic. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Federal and national relief agencies will give us something to start with; but rebuilding, reseeding, reforestation, re-populating herds and pasture, restoring homes and farms with water systems, septic, solar and simple basics like tools and equipment is no small endeavor. Please give whatever you can, and ask your friends to join us too. We will keep you updated as recovery begins, and celebrate our progress with you. Be a part of our story. Donate now.
