“Franklin County neighbors,
After much prayer, thoughtful consideration, and many conversations with my family, I have decided to run for a second term as your District 3 County Commissioner. Serving this county for the past three years has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together.
During my time on the board, we have worked hard to protect our unincorporated rural areas by strengthening the UDC and updating requirements for major subdivisions. We were grateful to approve a new training center to better equip and support our firefighters. We’ve made important capital improvements to the Elections Office, Senior Center, Jail, and Health Department. We also approved a much needed upgrade to our 911 radio system, which is currently being built out to improve emergency communication across the county. Furthermore, we’ve hired an in house inspector to help alleviate concerns our citizens have had as they have navigated building homes and improving their properties.
We were able to reach a settlement with Corridor Development, preventing a large multi family development from being built on prime industrial property near I-85. This preserves valuable land for future economic growth and job creation while saving the taxpayers money on services and educational expenses. Additionally, we have been actively working toward long term solutions to address regional water shortages, and I am hopeful we will soon be able to help ease that burden for our community. We’ve done all of this while rolling back taxes and being mindful stewards of your hard earned dollars.
While much has been accomplished, there is still important work ahead. I ran to protect and preserve our farmland while ensuring our zoning supports thoughtful economic growth along the I-85 Corridor and within our industrial parks. There are several promising projects in progress that I believe will come to fruition soon, bringing quality jobs to our community and helping relieve some of the tax burden on our families.
The next four years will present new challenges. The state is currently working on legislation to eliminate homestead property taxes by 2032. While the idea of no longer paying property taxes on our homes is certainly appealing, it will create significant challenges for local governments to navigate. It will take steady leadership, careful planning, and a deep understanding of our county’s needs to ensure we continue providing essential services without placing unintended strain on our citizens.
Franklin County is a special place. It’s where we raise our families, build our businesses, worship together, and look out for our neighbors. I remain committed to protecting our rural character, strengthening our local economy, and making decisions that reflect the values of the people who call this county home.
I would be truly honored to earn your support and your vote again on May 19 as I seek a second term as your District 3 County Commissioner. It has been a privilege to serve you, and I do not take your trust lightly. If given the opportunity to continue, I will remain committed to listening carefully, leading responsibly, and always putting the people of Franklin County first.”
