On March 16, Dimmit County Commissioners Court approved the installation of a plaque inscribed with a letter from Lt. Col. Comdt. William Barret Travis regarding his request for aid at the Alamo and his determination to fight to the death. The plaque was made possible and purchased through a donation and installed at the request of the Dimmit County Historical Society.

Early voting in the Dimmit Regional Hospital District and Wintergarden Groundwater Conservation District Election continues at the Dimmit County Historical Courthouse on Thursday & Friday, April 23 & 24, then on Monday & Tuesday, April 27 & 28 from 8 am to 5 pm, including the lunch hour. Election Day for all precincts is Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 7 am to 7 pm at the Historical Courthouse.

I am so proud to announce that we have a flag retirement bin set up at the Dimmit County Historical Courthouse. If you have any flags that need to be retired because they are old, tattered, or worn out, please bring them by. I will coordinate with a proper group who can respectfully retire the flags at a later date. Please share this post so our community can know where to bring their flags.
