When the lights come back on, it's easy to forget just how much work goes into storm restoration. Here's a look at what crews were dealing with this past weekend after Hurricane Isaias.

• 10,000+ Members experienced an outage
• 200+ outage locations
• 15+ broken poles

While some outages can be restored by removing a fallen limb from a line, many require far more extensive work. Broken poles can take hours to replace. Debris must be cleared before repairs can begin, and in some cases, crews must rebuild sections of line before power can be safely restored.

Storm restoration is truly a team effort. We're grateful to the Carroll EMC employees, contractors (MasTec) and mutual aid crews (Canoochee EMC, Marietta Power, Southern Rivers Energy, Planters EMC, Oconee EMC, MasTec) who worked side by side throughout the weekend to restore power to our communities.

To everyone who worked long hours away from home, and to our Members for their patience and support throughout the restoration process, thank you!

As the sun sets on a long day, we want to thank our Members for their patience. We know some of you have been without power for many hours, and we appreciate you hanging in there with us.

Today’s favorable weather allowed restoration work to continue steadily, and additional assistance has arrived to continue progress through the night.

As a reminder, outages cannot be reported through social media, and we unfortunately cannot provide estimated restoration times. Please continue reporting outages through our reporting tools as we work through these final hours.

Safety remains our top priority, always.

Thank you, friends!!

Thank you, friends!!

Our friends at Carroll EMC need a helping hand after storm damage impacted their system.

Based in Carrollton, Georgia, Carroll EMC stepped up for our community after Hurricane Helene. Electric cooperatives work together through mutual aid agreements during times like these, and we’re more than happy to return the favor!

Safe travels to our crews heading out to assist! ⚡

We appreciate the help!!

RESTORATION UPDATE:

We’re down to just a few remaining outages across our system! We expect to restore power within the next hour or so to all members whose service can safely be reconnected.

Earlier, we anticipated restoration could take until this evening. Thanks to the hard work and coordination of our linemen and dispatchers, we now expect to finish just after lunch. We couldn’t be prouder of this team!

After getting some much-needed rest, an SRE crew will head to Carroll EMC to help restore power for their members.

Thank you for your patience and encouragement throughout the storm.

Our crews are working nonstop, and help is on the way. Additional line crews from Marietta Power, Planters EMC and Cannoochee EMC are en route to support restoration efforts.

As you can tell by the photos, most of the outages we’re seeing are caused by fallen trees and limbs. While Carroll EMC maintains its rights-of-way, heavy wind and rain can still bring trees into power lines, particularly those weakened by the pine beetle epidemic.

A few important reminders:
🔴 Social media is not monitored for outage reports. Please use the Outage Pal app or call (770)-832-3552 (option 1).
🔴 Restoration times vary based on the specific circumstances of each outage, so estimated restoration times are not currently available.
✅ If there is a downed line, stay far away and report it to 911.
✅ Keep your refrigerator/freezer doors closed to help keep food cold.

Thank you for your patience as crews continue working to safely restore power. We’re thankful the cooler weather is making these outages a little more manageable.

🎄 Our outage map is looking a little more festive than we’d like this morning.

Strong wind gusts from Hurricane Isaias have caused widespread outages across our service area. With gusty conditions expected to continue throughout the day, additional outages are possible. Our crews are working across the system to restore power safely and as quickly as possible.
