All is well in the world when America's footballs are made in Farmers Branch TX, you build a really good product, and you treat people right. Thanks to Mayor Robert Dye for having us on MORNINGS w/ THE MAYOR alongside chamber member Big Game USA CEO Chris Calandro. Although we missed seeing our members’ smiling faces today at our 2020 Virtual Mayors’ Forum, Mayor Joe Chow, Mayor Kevin Falconer and Mayor Robert Dye joined together on the socially-distanced stage at The Firehouse Theatre to build business and break boundaries. Discussion included the necessity of partnerships, supporting our small and large businesses, and what’s new and what’s next. It was an important reminder that no matter where we are - in our offices, at home, or commuting between point A to B - prioritizing our business community remains at the heart of what we do and what our Mayors’ believe in. What we do best we do together.
Thanks to Morton Visuals for capturing these greats shots of this special event.

And we’re off! To all the parents, teachers, and staff - we made it to the start of the 2020-21 school year. Will the technology work perfectly? Probably not. Will the theme of today be turn your mic on, turn your mic off? You bet. Will this be a season of trial and error? Absolutely. Will we need to extend extra patience and grace to working parents & teachers? Of course. But we know that virtual classrooms, schedules, teachers and our 4 school districts we serve are working their hardest to ensure our future leaders are ready to tackle whatever tomorrow throws at them. Have a great first few days, Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, Coppell ISD, Dallas ISD, and Lewisville ISD. We're here for you.

North Texas City Where Two Officers Were Charged With Murder In Last 4 Years Considers Police Reform

“Safety remains mine and our city’s first priority. We need improved community outreach, mental health programming to assist officers in non-violent matters of crisis, updated equipment and technology to assist our officers in the field and higher top-end pay to ensure our most tenured officers are taken care of and valued.

Our aim is to continue to improve and to find new ways to develop and provide for our police department. We want to ensure our officers feel safe and supported so they can focus on their job. We are not just concerned about policy but about supporting our officers as individuals. Our hope is that officers from all over the nation want to work in Farmers Branch,” shared Mayor Robert Dye, in a recent Facebook posted with the below link to the KERA article and council meeting link. Working together alongside the Mayor, our police departments, and business communities results in a vibrant and safe place to live and work. We’re all in this together.

You can learn more from the July 28th council meeting here (https://farmersbranch.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?clip_id=466), where you will hear the actual recommendation which is to refund the police. Other recommendations include additional programs, increased outreach, improved equipment and higher pay to further enhance and strengthen our department.

The Texas Power Switch is a residential group energy switching program that gives people all over Texas the opportunity to join together and leverage their group purchasing power to get a lower electricity rate. A growing number of cities have officially endorsed the program, including the City of Farmers Branch. The good news is that residential households in Carrollton and Addison are able to participate as well. To date, over 21,000 Texans have participated and current participants are expected to save an average of $50 per month. Visit www.texaspowerswitch.com and register for free before May 19th, 2020. It only takes a few minutes and it’s completely free. You'll receive a personal offer email by June 5th - then decide whether to accept the offer or not. Questions? Email [email protected] or call 888-376-2077.

Hi everyone! In case you haven't heard, the City of Farmers Branch is offering its residents a no-cost, risk-free service that helps to lower electricity bills through group purchasing. The good news is that anyone in the Metrocrest can participate! The idea is simple - as part of a group, you have more bargaining power than you would alone and electricity providers offer more competitive rates in an effort to acquire a large pool of customers. Simply sign up to find out the rate, receive your personal offer and then decide if you want to switch. There’s absolutely no obligation! Register before March 3rd to save an average of $411 annually - with a rate that is both competitive and 100% renewable. Please share this post to help your friends and neighbors save as well!
