Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park are putting the finishing touches on the ramp this week! This gorgeous park in Newnan, Georgia is blessed with a phenomenal team of Friends volunteers who keep the trails in pristine condition, build bridges and support the park with fabulous programs. Great work, team!! They are so good at going "above and beyond" for their favorite park and it shows.

Georgia In Color is launched!
We are excited to bring EnChroma color accessibility glasses to the parks! This is a huge endeavor and there’s currently only 3 parks with these specialized glasses. Help us reach our goal of bringing glasses to all of Georgia’s State Parks & Historic Sites

The glasses use special optical filters designed for people with certain types of red-green color vision deficiency. Visitors will be able to borrow the glasses during their park or historic site visit
and return them before leaving.

Friends of Georgia State Park is donating 470 new Life Jackets to the parks before Labor Day weekend through the SPLASH program.

With more than $11,000 in support to fully restock Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks across Georgia, Friends provided 470 new life jackets to fully restock 44 kiosks.

This initiative is expanding access to properly fitted life jackets for people enjoying Georgia’s lakes, rivers and waterways.

Bald eagle with its catch at Tugaloo!

A little clarification on that incredible bald eagle photo! 🦅🐟

We’ve seen quite a few comments and questions about the bald eagle photo we recently shared, so we wanted to clear up the story behind it.

After talking with the photographer, we discovered that this photo was actually taken on July 16th, 2025, when the lake was at full pool. The photographer recently came across the photo in her memories and shared it with us, and we thought it was too incredible not to share!

And for those wondering—the photo is real! It was taken on an Samsung Galaxy S21 and has not been AI-generated or altered to create the eagle, fish, or scene.

We apologize for the confusion about when the photo was taken. We shared it because it was an amazing moment captured at the park, but we should have included the original date when we posted it.

So, mystery solved: real eagle, real fish, real photo… just a little older than we initially realized. 😊🦅
