At yesterday’s JASCO Board Meeting, we had the honor of recognizing Telecommunicators Tonya Johnson and Kalea Teel for their outstanding work during two separate life-saving incidents.

Behind every 911 call is a Telecommunicator who must remain calm, listen carefully, quickly assess what is happening, and provide critical instructions when every second matters. Tonya and Kalea did exactly that when their callers needed them most.

Their actions are a powerful reminder that life-saving work begins before first responders ever arrive on scene. The calm voice on the other end of the phone can make all the difference. ❤️

🚨 Another Step Forward for JASCO’s IRT! 🚨

Our Incident Response Team (IRT) has been putting in the work! Members of the team recently completed ICS-300 training, adding another important piece to the training and preparation behind our growing response capabilities.

ICS-300 builds on the Incident Command System and prepares responders to work together during larger and more complex incidents — exactly the kind of coordination our IRT is designed to support.

Every class, every exercise, and every experience gets us one step closer to where we want to be.

We are incredibly proud of this group for continuing to learn, train, and prepare so that when the call comes, JASCO is ready to support our public safety partners and the communities we serve.

We would like to send a big THANK YOU to Carthage VFW Post 2590 for generously donating pulled pork meals for our JASCO team!

We especially appreciate that you made sure our night shift had a warm meal as well. Thank you for keeping our night owls in your thoughts, too! 🌙💛

We were also glad to have JCESB Chairman Alvan Peavler and Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Hicks there with us as we shared in the support and appreciation shown to our team and other first responders at the Carthage VFW Post 2590.

Keeping a 24/7 Emergency Communications Center running means our team is always here — nights, weekends, holidays, and everything in between. Having members of our community take the time to provide a meal and show their appreciation is something we never take for granted.

Thank you for thinking of our Telecommunicators and for supporting the men and women who are always on the other end of the line when our community needs them most. 📞💛

🏆💛 CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE AT JASCO! 🖤🏆

Last month, we had the opportunity to celebrate a HUGE accomplishment for our team — earning our Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD) ACE accreditation and successfully achieving Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Re-Accreditation! 🎉

Reaching ACE status takes dedication, consistency, teamwork, and a commitment to providing the highest level of service to our community every single day. After all that hard work, there also had to be a little time to celebrate! 🥳

Our teams were treated to some well-deserved goodies as part of the celebration. A special thank you to Director Dan for generously donating so that everyone could enjoy something sweet! 🍦 Day shift was treated to ice cream from Scoop It in Carthage, while night shift got to enjoy their own sundae bar.

We also greatly appreciated having a member of our Board present with every shift to personally congratulate our team members and celebrate this achievement alongside them. With a 24/7 operation, it was important that each team had the opportunity to be recognized and included in the celebration. 💛

These photos capture just a little bit of the fun and, more importantly, the people behind this accomplishment. From our Telecommunicators and Team Leaders to Training, Quality Assurance, Administrative Staff, Leadership, and the support of our Board — this achievement truly took a team.

🏆 EXCELLENCE IN EMERGENCY DISPATCH — A HUGE MILESTONE FOR JASCO! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to share a major achievement for Jasper County Emergency Services and the dedicated professionals who make up our JASCO team!

JASCO has officially achieved reaccreditation as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), maintaining our status as the 228th agency in the world to achieve this recognition.

But that's not all...

🚓 For the first time in JASCO's history, we have also achieved Accredited Center of Excellence status in Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD)—becoming only the 43rd agency in the world to earn this accreditation!

These accomplishments don't happen overnight. Achieving and maintaining ACE accreditation requires exceptional performance in emergency call processing, quality assurance, training, protocol compliance, and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, it takes a TEAM.

Our Telecommunicators, supervisors, training and quality assurance personnel, administrative staff, and leadership all played a part in reaching this milestone.

On August 12, the Jasper County Emergency Services Board of Directors formally recognized and congratulated JASCO staff through Proclamation 2026-02: Recognizing JASCO Staff for Excellence in Emergency Dispatch.

To celebrate these accomplishments, Mac's Stop on Schifferdecker in Joplin partnered with JASCO to provide meals for all of our shifts on Thursday and Friday. A member of the JASCO Board will be present during each of the four meals to celebrate alongside our employees, who were presented with award certificates and EMD and EPD pins recognizing their part in this achievement.

And....... WE'RE NOT FINISHED YET!!!!🌟

Our next goal is to pursue ACE accreditation in Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) this November! Achieving that goal would put JASCO among the select group of emergency communication centers worldwide to hold TRI-ACE accreditation across all three disciplines—EMD, EPD, and EFD.

To our JASCO team: Congratulations, and THANK YOU. These accreditations represent the professionalism, dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence that you bring to JASCO and the communities and first responders we serve every single day.
