Please join us in congratulating Stevie Osborn. She successfully passed her Level II Water Treatment certification. These certifications are incredibly difficult and take time and dedication to pass. Stevie is both passionate and dedicated. We are so proud of you Stevie! CONGRATULATIONS from all of us at Public Works and Community Development. #PrideinService

3 days without water....

Headlock Press' Man of the Year

I may not know the difference between a squashed curve and a bad prediction, or understand why fast-food workers are deemed essential and dentists aren’t, or how healthcare workers can get laid off during a plague...but I know a real hero when I see one. And sanitation workers are the unsung heroes of healthcare. If we didn’t have regular garbage pick-ups and proper sewer drainage, this quasi-pandemic could have been as bad as the bubonic plague—and every other pestilence aided by poor sanitation.

In spite of sanitation workers exposing themselves to germs and viruses and rot every day on behalf of their fellow citizens, there are no slow-motion, soft-focus commercials thanking sanitation workers for their blessed ounce of prevention…which has been worth much more than a pound of cure to us all.

Charles Bukowski said, “You can live with a lot of things…but you can not live with bad plumbing.” I agree. So I’ve written a little something to recognize the unsung efforts of the most essential workers of all: Sanitation Workers.

Notice of Conference Exposure to a Communicable Disease

We have been notified that one of our Attendee of WWQ & PCA has tested positive for COVID-19. As such, conference goers may have been exposed to this virus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close or “direct” contact with one another through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

We have reached out to those members believed to have been in close or direct contact (direct contact is generally intended to mean within about 6 feet for a period of 10 minutes or more) with the subject member so that they may take appropriate protective measures for themselves and on behalf of all

associates, including the possibility of remaining at home for a 14-day monitoring period. If you experience symptoms of respiratory illness (fever, coughing or shortness of breath), please contact your health care provider.

The WWQ & PCA cannot release medical information due to HIPPA guidelines but encourage you to get tested if you experience any symptoms.

The WWQ&PCA is taking measures as described in the prior general notice on Coronavirus and Flu Prevention to ensure the safety of our attendees, vendors and board members during this coronavirus outbreak, and we will keep you informed as the need arises.

For more information on COVID-19, including symptoms and treatment, visit the CDC website at www.cdc.gov.

We also urge you to look to “what to do if you were exposed fact sheet”

The WWQ & PCA Thank you for your understanding,

Victor Spencer
Media Director WWQ & PCA

As the nation's health protection agency, CDC saves lives and protects people from health, safety, and security threats.
