New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office
Woman Charged with First-Degree Murder Following Death Investigation
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – On May 30, 2026, deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office responded to 28 Stoney Road in reference to a welfare check.
Upon arrival, deputies located Paul Anthony Carr suffering from gunshot wounds. Carr was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following an extensive investigation spanning several months, detectives with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office have charged Dale Ann Carr, the victim’s wife, with first-degree murder in connection with his death.
Dale Carr is currently being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility without bond.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to thoroughly investigating violent crimes and seeking justice for victims and their families.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

It’s National School Bus Safety Week 🚌

We all know the morning routine…buses are stopping, kids are crossing, and everyone is trying to get where they’re going.

Master Deputy Pedersen and K-9 Honey took a special visit to Primrose School of North Wilmington where they had an awesome time with the students!

The kids had the opportunity to discover how our K-9 teams help keep our community safe. There were plenty of smiles, excitement, and wagging tails!

Visits like these are about more than just having fun. They're about building trust, creating positive relationships, and showing our youngest community members that law enforcement is here to help.
