Step back in time this Labor Day Weekend at historic Virginia’s Chapel.

We invite the community to visit and experience this treasured piece of local history during our Labor Day Weekend Open House. Guests are welcome to walk the grounds, tour the chapel, and enjoy the sound of the historic pump organ being played at select times throughout the day.

📍Open House Hours:
Saturday, September 5 — 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Built in 1853 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Virginia’s Chapel continues to serve as a place of history, reflection, and community.

Everyone is welcome! We hope you will stop by and experience the beauty and heritage of Virginia’s Chapel.

A huge thank you to the Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department for coming up after their meeting last night and washing down the chapel and the walkways around. We love having so much community support as we restore “The Old Brick Church.”

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday to help clean up the pathway around “The Old Brick Church.” We now have a clear walkway for visitors to walk the grounds of Virginia’s Chapel. ⛪️🌳🎶

Built 173 years ago as a Kanawha County salt baron’s gift to his 18-year-old daughter, Virginia’s Chapel has survived the test of time but is now in need of some TLC in order to remain an iconic presence along U.S. 60 in Cedar Grove.

The Virginia’s Chapel Foundation, the organization that owns and manages the historic church, is in the midst of a campaign to raise the estimated $42,000 needed to:

- Repair and stabilize its steeple, now on the verge of collapse due to water damage and wood rot

- Paint and re-plaster damaged interior and exterior surfaces

- Replace gutters and downspouts

- Replace an HVAC unit

OUR NEW SIGNS ARE UP!!
You may have noticed that the old Virginia’s Chapel signs were worn, faded, and falling down. Today, our new signs were installed!! We hope these new signs will allow more individuals to stop by for a visit. Stay tuned for some dates the chapel will be open. ⛪️🎶
