Unfortunately, my opponent has failed to respond to repeated invitations to participate in the September 22nd LWV candidates forum to answer basic questions about the public office he seeks. Therefore we will not be having a local office session for the people to engage with their county candidates for public office. I have always participated in these LWV forums along with the Gazette EBoard sessions and firmly believe that one should be answerable to the public when seeking an office of public trust. My opponent also failed to timely file his paperwork for election and had to be nominated by convention to cover up that glaring error in his filing. The Linn County Treasurer’s Office handles over a half-billion dollars a year in public monies and someone who can’t get the paperwork right for his election or bother to respond to the public or show up to a candidates forum should NOT be considered a serious person deserving of the public’s trust as their Linn County Treasurer. I take this office and it’s responsibilities seriously, putting the very best personnel in place to run your motor vehicle and property tax departments. I humbly ask for your vote for re-election and I remain open to anyone who has questions or would like to make sure their Treasurer’s office is under responsible and accountable leadership.
